Paluster

Paluster, viewed from inside the town

Paluster is a large town built on a frozen lake, in the snow region. It is a crucial rest point for players attempting to make the trip north. The town itself is set around a large central tree, with buildings on walls around it. The buildings are all located on top of a stone boardwalk. Players frequently run here using the ice river to restock on food and other supplies, making camping this location for extended periods of time difficult.

This town is a great place on the map to farm Shivers, which can drop snowballs and Frost Walker legendary boots. Paluster is great for restocking on food and potions, but lacks any decent military loot. Clarce, which is nearby, has almost the exact same loot as Paluster but has more higher tier civilian chests and one extra potion chest, as well as a much lower bandit risk, making it a better choice to visit.

To the north of the town is a large crack in the ice, where the elite dungeon of Pluvia, Paluster Shrine is located if players swim under the ice and into a cavern. There's no chests here, but players can swim here if they are being chased by bandits. In the center of town, at the bottom of the tree, is a small pond. Throwing an apple in the pond grants nearby players with Water Breathing, which used to be needed to make the swim to the dungeon.

Travel Advisory/Warnings

• Water is located in this town, in the central pond and the cracks in the ice to the southeast and north.
• Furnaces are also located here.
• Potions are obtained by climbing up the tree. Start the parkour on the southwest side of the tree.
• Zombies tend to spawn at ground level and follow underneath, so beware, as walk between raised platforms.
• Bandits are known to server hop here.
• Bandits show up often. When travelling in a group, always have somebody to watch out for them.
• Paluster is definitely worth the trip, as it has healing supplies, food, and a crafting table.
• Grappling onto the roofs is a good idea if cornered by bandits or Shivers.
• The top of the tree is a great sniping post for killing zombies and other players. Just be careful not to fall.
• Players with high tier armor who have come down from the North or from dungeons such as Maze of the Tenth are often encountered here looking for food.
• Shivers can spawn inside the houses, be careful not to get stuck with one.

Lore

Lore Block

• The Lore Block is located at the base of the giant tree, facing north:

Alone on a cold island, this desolate tree stands surrounded by ice, suffocating and rotting. The tree serves as a great representation of Pluvia. Able to spread it’s roots far and wide, it gathered all it could. But it grew unchecked, spreading chaotically drawing vital resources in, taking from others without mercy until it too was quelled. Built around this peculiar tree, the town of Paluster draws no tourists anymore. In the warmer months these harsh, unforgiving waters warmed, giving nourishment to the surrounding land and the tree of Pluvia. But without the presence of the elemental gods, this climate has harshened, leaving Paluster gripped by dense ice.
