"In the beginning there was one, and his name was Hestril. His brilliance shining forward out into the empty void. Light rushed forward pockmarking the black nothingness, and at last the universe and its host of stars came to be. Yet this creation was empty - merely a blank slate with no authors. From himself he gave life to four others - gods of all elementsː Agni - god and goddess of the flames of life, Simoon - god of the wind, Therum - goddess of earth, and Pluvia - god of water. Together they created the earth and all of its wonders. However this creation weakened Hestril who had lost a portion of his brilliance. Yet the new earth beckoned, cooling from its recent creation."

The Lore is the story-line behind MineZ. It is not officially told yet, however, the Lore can be hinted at and found in various locations of the map. Some of the evidence comes together, and some still needs to be solved. The main source of Lore in MineZ are the messages and books that can be found inside certain Lore Blocks. These are accounts by people in the MineZ world. The Lore is also explained in other forms of media, such as on the Shotbow YouTube channel.

Agni Ignis

Once the focal point of pilgrims seeking the city of elements, the great walled city of Agni Ignis has all but succumbed to the elements those great mages once revered.

Etched into the outer walls, the runes that were meant to be an impervious defense against any threat can still be seen.

The great city of Agni Ignis was the last stronghold of mages, powerful wielders of the elemental magic that once flowed through the world. Having fled here at the first signs of a possible apocalyptic scenario, their barrier was raised.

Yet their kind nature and waning magic allowed several followers of the long-forgotten name to infiltrate the city with troves of refugees and sabotage the wall.

This breach eventually concluded in the total collapse of the south eastern wall and the complete infection of the greatest city humans had ever built.

Anemos Sanctum

Here on this slope lies the gateway to the ancient temple of Simoon, god of the wind.

Once free to send the gift of wind throughout the land, Simoon now rests eternally bound.

Simoon’s gale is no longer felt across the world, and the melody of the wind as it blew throughout the sanctum has been reduced from a song to a low howl.

Yet, deep inside, a low song may still be heard…

Axis Mundi

How to tie your shoes

You wanna learn how to tie your shoes?

It's a very easy thing to do.

Just sit down and I'll give you the scoop...

What's that, you think to yourself?

It's called the loop-de-loop.

You put a lace in each hand.

You go over and under again, take your loop-de-loop and pull and your shoes are looking coolǃ

Escape Rooms ̥ Youː A Guide

You've done it again, you're stuck in a roomǃ

No worries. Keep an ear to the wall from start to finish.

The light ahead of you will lead you to the endǃ

These creatures are unlike any you have seen before.

Creatures larger than you've ever seen before...

Here, buried beneath layers of time, lies the great library of Axis Mundi, the ancient city created by Hestril.

This mythical city was the focal point of the world, through which all magic flowed. Under Hestril's careful tenure life blossomed from this point, and it was here that sages and oracles alike communed with the gods.

Yet, when Hestril was sealed his tether and his influence was cut. His magic that once wove an elaborate tapestry through the land was now lost, and this great city went with it - crumbling into the earth.

As the world grew more chaotic, this library alone was spared, its knowledge being preserved.

The Art of Banditing.

Step 1ː Don't speak of Banditing.

Bell Farm

As news of Romero's quarantine swept the coast, members of the local militia were spread thin.

With numbers low and the increasing threat of starvation looming over the remaining coastal towns a small camp was raised over night to stand as a stalwart protector over one of the largest granaries that supplied these southern towns...

Byesford Castle

It wasn’t until the gods delivered unto mortals the curse of the undead, mankind’s final penance and rulers, that this castle became a bastion for humanity.

Here scientists in Byesford’s highly advanced laboratories worked tirelessly to attempt to cure this infection; to stave off this curse.
But it was an act of sheer folly, and the dangerous experiments that were kept so carefully beneath the castle were let loose...

Byesford Labs

Subject Z-87 was captured and contained by Byesford scientists.

This creature devours anything in its path, from zombies to animals and even people.

It was a miracle to even get it contained, but those scientists... they wanted more.

It doesn't take a hero to order men into battle.

It takes a hero to be one of those men who go into battle.

Carmi

Welcome to the port town Carmi, gateway to the east. Carmi’s was an ideal location to receive supplies from the west, and a perfect point to gather supplies before continuing towards the jungle and the mythical city of Agni Ignis.

When Joh Nee A was razed, hysteria gripped the East and refugees from the disaster migrated towards the coast.

Having heard about the quarantine enforced in Romero, Carmi was overwhelmed by refugees crossing the Continental Bridge. Totally unprepared and with no militia to screen the waves of people entering the continent, the virus swarmed into the east.

Desert Canyon Sanctuary

Before you rests the sanctuary of Therum, goddess of Earth.

This canyon serves as a reminder of the slow, yet powerful rage of Therum, formed over an incomprehensible amount of time.

Any who enter this sacred place besmirch the name of this vengeful goddess, who so long ago vanished from these lands.

Now these halls sit dormant, yet its secrets linger on…

Exolesco

Harkening back to more enchanted times, the enchanted stump of Exolesco is an oddity even for the swamp.

Believed to have been planted by Therum herself, this grand tree was felled long ago. Before these dark times, researchers would flock here to study the curious nature of this stump; its tunnels and its mystical, multicolored mushrooms being wholly unique.

Exolesco was special, and though its inhabitants have either all been turned or fled, the tree remains. For as all things come from the earth, so shall they return to her.

Fire Spire

Held in permanent stasis at the top of this spire rests the God and Goddess of Fire, Agni.

Agni is said to have favoured humans most of the four elemental gods. Due to this bond, a colossal statue built in the image of Agni is said to preside near the town of Frostbain - a symbol of our ancestors' deep gratitude to them.

The Spire of Agni is the sole remainder of that tarnished bond. Isolated on an island, surrounded by frigid water, no flame will dance in these chilling surroundings. An iconic final resting place for Agni; among water.

Floating Islands

Held in permanent stasis at the top of this spire rests the Goddess of Earth, Therum.

Therum is said to have molded us from the Earth, drawing and shaping us from the clay. The very land we worked, lived and died on was gifted to us by Therum. Our absolute trust was given to her and for a time our devotion was rewarded by an age of prosperity unlike any before.

The floating islands around you were once a sacred grove - a location of immense beauty and respect. When Therum was sealed inside the spire's orb the very earth around this grove was wrenched into the sky.

Isolated from her element, the spire of Therum, what is left, slowly wavers through the air, never again being allowed to touch the ground.

Fort McHarlington

When the plague began spreading, an old military order was issued to seek refuge inside the fort.

Despite the harsh discipline and the preaching of the lord commander, soldiers defected one after another, either because of fear or hunger. The lack of men defending the gates soon caused the fort to fall apart.

It is said that the lord still roams inside the fort, to command his army of now dead soldiers.

Frostbain

Frostbain was once a town protected by Agni, God and Goddess of fire. Their warmth shielded this town from the harsh, frozen environment that enveloped much of the southern region.

Citizens from across the world came to draw close and gaze upon the magnificence of Agni’s visage, immortalized in stone.

Now, the frozen town of Frostbain stands as a stark reminder of the cruelty of the Elemental Gods.

Frostbain Catacombs

Lying beneath the frozen town of Frostbain, this sanctuary of Agni has all but crumbled without the presence of magic.

Where once worshippers came to commune with the God and Goddess of Fire, now only the dead speak in these frigid, corrupted halls.

The familiar warmth of Agni’s flame seems to have left these hallowed halls. Now only the rage of Agni can be felt.

Ghost Fleet

As you stand on the pyroclastic shore, you take a step back as the fire and brimstone swirl around you. The ash here creates a fog-like haze that causes you to shield your eyes. You find a clear moment your eyes widen, and you hear the eerie sound of bells.

Before you, a funeral procession of ships long forgotten appears. The eerie, ethereal fleet seems to hover in place. Tattered rigging and sails cling to the tormented masts, and you feel a sense of dread begin to blanket the precipice of this volcano.

From where and when they hail, you are not sure, but now the bell tolls for you, if you dare embark.

Arrrr, Welcome to Davey Jones' Locker!

Arrr, Welcome to Davey Jones' Oasis!

Have faith in your footing!

But make haste, as your footing won't have faith in you!

Grimdale

The former capital of the living, Grimdale is said to have played host to the group dedicated to freeing humanity from the tyranny of the elemental gods. It is here that they penned their plan, dispersed across the land, and created a resistance.

However, no one could have foreseen the calamity that arose after their plan succeeded. Grimdale was one of the last cities to fall to this calamity; its massive walls and fortifications quelled wave upon wave of the dead.

In the end, a weak spot in the fortifications proved to be this city's... and humanity's downfall.

Kaocho

Isolated, the exotic town of Kaocho sat hidden...or forgotten in the western swamps. Being so remote, Kaocho was one of the last towns to fall to the infection. Most of its people opted to stay here, cutting themselves off from the rest of the world.

Refusing to accept any intrepid traveler for fear of infection, the town of Kaocho was saved, if only for a fleeting moment. They would unwittingly cause the downfall of other major towns sunk deep in the swamp's marshy north, due to this refusal.

Necromancer Tower

A haven for practitioners of the dark arts, this tower sits wreathed in mystery.

Home to warlocks and necromancers who immersed themselves in magic from an unspeakably evil source, their presence corrupted the good earth around them.

Though their goal was postponed during the Great Banishment, it is believed they achieved their heinous goal of breaching Agni Ignis’ walls during the outbreak. Agni Ignis, home of the elemental mage stood opposite of them – a shining beacon that needed to be blotted out.

The dead were no worry for those that lived here, for they had been granted dominion over them for some time before the outbreak. Yet, as magic continued to wane, they grew increasingly weaker and more appetizing to their pawns.

Paluster

Alone on a cold island, this desolate tree stands surrounded by ice, suffocating and rotting.

The tree serves as a great representation of Pluvia. Able to spread it’s roots far and wide, it gathered all it could. But it grew unchecked, spreading chaotically drawing vital resources in, taking from others without mercy until it too was quelled.

Built around this peculiar tree, the town of Paluster draws no tourists anymore. In the warmer months these harsh, unforgiving waters warmed, giving nourishment to the surrounding land and the tree of Pluvia.

But without the presence of the elemental gods, this climate has harshened, leaving Paluster gripped by dense ice.

Paluster Shrine

Dedicated to the God, Pluvia, only a select few were allowed deep below the great tree to gaze upon this Shrine.

The root systems of this tree, growing freely, bisected the great stone temple hidden beneath Paluster. Like Pluvia’s yearning for wisdom, the tree consumed all available space, threatening to destroy that which was built to honor Pluvia.

When Pluvia was sealed this subterranean temple and its halls became corrupted. Now it exists as a mausoleum to the marvels of Pluvia…and those who were trapped when the ice froze.

Pravus

Originally a trader's quay on the shipping lane of Portsmouth, the accumulation of sunken ships due to rough seas littered the surrounding waterfront. As waterlogged hulls were pulled ashore, several were still intact enough to begin refurbishing into living spaces.

Pravus grew in fame as the only successful town to weather the harsh arid climate of this desert and quickly became the perfect stop for travelers looking to cross the continent.

As the virus began to roll over the land, Pravus quickly fell, having no defenses to keep the dead at bay. This coastal city was lost to the plague, being little more than a momentary pause for the superhorde that approached the capital city, Grimdale.

Path of Light

Here in these hallowed halls, wreathed in light sits the physical representation of the creator, Hestril.

Though forgotten by many, the mages of Agni Ignis have worked tirelessly to preserve Hestril’s work.

These halls remain the mages most well-kept secret and was considered to be the closest one could get to Hestril, as those that built it no longer knew where Hestril had been sealed.

When the fall of Agni Ignis was all but certain, a decision was made to seal these halls off from the rest of the world, saving them from assured destruction, lest Dentril’s final worshippers gained access to this sacred place.

Knowing that Dentril was sealed beneath the Shrine of the Dusk, and rationalizing that not even Dentril’s worshippers would gain access to the reliquary, the mages ironically placed the key to this hall there.

Romero

History of Romero, Section 1 : The seaside town of Romero, now home of the Night's Watch, became ground zero for the plague that would ravage the world.

History of Romero, Section 2 : Initial infections and subsequent deaths were thought to be little more than a common cold, the bodies being moved to the sewer as no better method for disposal existed.

When the dead rose though, this storage in the sewer backfired. Too many laid sick and dying above ground to mount any resistance and a decision to abandon the city was made.

History of Romero, Section 3: The city’s watch mounted a full-scale quarantine of the city, even going as far as blasting apart a length of the continental bridge to stop Refugees and this sickness from spreading to the East. Breaking the bridge only succeeded in isolating the East.

However, this quarantine was too little, too late. The damage had already been done. The infection had spread too far, and too quickly to be contained.

Shrine of the Dusk

Here, alone on this plateau lies the mysterious cathedral Shrine of the Dusk. Adorned with the phases of the moon this strange cathedral seems to pull you towards it. Though its purpose has been forgotten, many legends remain about its construction and the symbol it holds…

Miner's Log: During the Construction of this church, we found...something.

The Rock here, it's not...it's different. We will go deeper.

Miner's Log: We've ventured deeper into this cave. It's becoming harder to continue

We've had disappearances as well.

One of the miner's is becoming obsessed.... with something.

He mutters endlessly... "The hands of him, they draw me closer, pull me towards him."

He's decided to sleep in the dark....

That miner, he went crazy saying we should never have entered this cave.

He tried to kill us, before taking his own life...

On a side note, the air. It's different here.

The other miner went crazy. He ran into the darkness.

I'm hearing whispers. They're oddly comforting.

His Hands draw me closer.

They pull me closer to him.

...

He...Ordered me to do it.

...

I... Didn't want to, but he told me to.

....There....is ONLY darkness now.

I go willingly into the Heart of Darkness.

It started a few days ago.

A massive eruption that ripped the continent into pieces.

Then, the sky crumbled

The stars fell from the heavens to join us, and finally, the earth swallowed us whole.

Some of the refugees have fled to the cathedral, hoping it would give them solace.

We are all doomed.

As the sky crumbles, I can only hope some of us will make it.

These books all seem to be written in ancient runes.

Does anyone here read runes?

The History of Canada

Chapter 1

The Beaver

You can't seem to make out the text on any of these books.

They seem to be very old!

These books contain a wonderful recipe for pumpkin pie.

I'll save this for later.

Construction of the Shrine of the Dusk was started 15 years after the foundation of Al Hasa.

Massive quantities of stone was pulled from the Al Hasa Quarry.

Documentation of similar findings were recovered from multiple mines.

Similar to rocks accumulating over time, there appears to be large scale ruins everywhere.

Some books were even recovered from these mines.

A Beginner's Guide to Necromancy.

Step 1: Acquire multiple dead bodies.

Step 2: Put in the eggs. Ahhhh, you can smell it already.

You decide to put the book down...

This Book seems to be recovered from a town called Helia.

You flip the pages.

The book seems to be in bad condition.

Yet, you make out the name Hestril.

Look into this.

Recovery of skeletons from multiple excavation sites have yielded odd findings.

Bite marks on ancient skeletons dating thousands of years old, and....very odd skeletons as well.

Nothing like we've ever seen.

For a further analysis, flip to page 44.

A Beginners guide to Goats

Goats are social animals.

Goats are very intelligent and curious animals.

Goats have excellent coordination.

Goats are the natural enemy of little ponies.

This book seems to be a guide to building better trees.

You know they won't be good though.

Concerning Hestril

It is said, that before all else, he existed.

Bound by nothing, Hestril, presided over the infinite expanse.

From the darkness, he created the infinite cosmos. From himself, he created the stars.

From himself, have gave life to 4 others: Gods of all elements.

Agni, God and Goddess over the flames of life.

Simoon, God of the wind.

Therum, Goddess of earth.

Pluvia, God of water and wisdom.

Concerning Hestril - Continued

Together, they created the Earth, and all of it's wonders.

However, in doing this Hestril became corrupted.

By creating the 4, he himself developed a split personality.

Wherever there is light, there must always be darkness.

And so Dentril became the God of darkness.

The two personalities became rampant and unpredictable.

Because of this, the 4 had to seal the two personalities away.

Concerning Hestril - The Conclusion

Once the two were sealed, the balance of light and darkness reached an equilibrium.

The entities were sealed in separate location, The mind and body of both, split.

Never to return.

Should either be unsealed without the other, the fragile balance will be broken...

*Throw an item through the frame to the left*

This is the Hall of Shadows.

If you let your gaze drift upwards you will see it.

The petrified Claws of Dentril, God of Darkness.

You will need to find 3 sealing skulls if you are to proceed.

But be warned!

By doing so, you may unleash a terrifying evil upon the land.

The four Gods sealed Hestril's alter ego, Dentril here with a four pronged seal.

If the seal is broken the balance of light and darkness will be disrupted...

However, to progress, you might have to remove the seal!

To undo the seal, their the 3 remaining sealing skulls into the hopper.

Sirus

Looks like each major dungeon is dedicated to a specific God.

There's a chance to get a sealing stone from each of those.

Each stone must be brought, then, to the Lady.

Hmm.

Statue of Agni

Before you is the physical form of Agni the god/goddess of fire.

Agni switches between genders at will when communicating with the races of this land.

His/her temper is unmatched and is well known for their wrath.

After being sealed Agni now remains frozen in stasis awaiting to walk the land once more.

Stillwater Motte

Bridging the colonized world with the wild swamp, Stillwater Motte was the best connection for explorers looking to venture into the unknown swamp.

Strange and curious, the western swamp holds secrets locked in its bogs, wetlands, and marshes.

Whether looking for a new life or searching for ancient history, the inhabitants of the swamp each had different reasons for colonizing it.

Where Grimdale represented order and civility, this swamp represented freedom and an escape from civilization.

When the plague swept over the land, Stillwater Motte was unprepared for the ensuing flood of the undead.

Their drawbridge was not even up before the first dead swept into the city, quickly spilling into the swamp.

Stonehenge

Alone in this quiet grove, this ancient ruin has stood the test of time. Its sarcophagus-like structure sits all but reclaimed by the earth, as if to entomb its well-kept purpose.

Tristitia

The dark and gnarled roots creak and snap as if to welcome you.

The wind howls and churns up leaves, long since discardeed, as if a thousand corpses, they rush past you, back to the forest floor, their grave.

Devoid of life, this dark and daunting town casts a malevolent red glow out into the inky black forest floor around you.

This is Tristitia.

"Gaze upon and despair, ye who enter." The baleful statue reads. "Cast asunder, I am free. With me, through me, all is equal. For as there is light, there is dark."

Wind Spire

Held in permanent stasis in this encased, earthen spire rests the God of Wind, Simoon.

Simoon was known for being a trickster, his wind flowing freely throughout the world, filling our sails and giving power to our towns. Simoon was once worshipped in the forgotten temple of air, Anemos Sanctum.

It is said that Simoon's gales guided the great blazing mound of earth from the heavens into the city of Joh Nee A, eradicating one of the largest eastern cities and sending a clear message to us.

This spire was built underground, far from the free air and though earthquakes have begun revealing much of what is buried, Simoon and his wind will never flow freely again.

Water Spire

Held in a permanent stasis at the top of this spire rests the God of Water, Pluvia.

In his life, Pluvia kept to himself, deep within the ocean, choosing to ignore the matters of this realm, preferring to become lost in his own knowledge and wisdom.

Here in this dried basin sits the structure, crafted so carefully by those old hands, to deny to this god the very element he oversaw. It is ironic that as he denied water to the communities of Al Hasa and Camp Kharj, he too was denied his vital element.

Now this spire sits as a frigid reminder of his selfishness.

Wizard Tower

Before you, trapped in a timeless explosion, sits the once grand tower of Wizards.

Powerful wielders of long gone magic, the kind and knowledgeable wizards were welcomed by all. They sought to use their gifts to help better humanity and devoted their lives to the protection of humanity.

Their magic was only rivaled by that of the Necromancers, wielders of dark and potent magic from a source far fouler and devious than that of Hestril.

Though it went against everything they stood for, a pact was formed with necromancers when it became apparent the once benevolent elemental gods had become corrupt.

The wizards of this tower could not have known what awaited them once the elemental gods were removed from this plane. Magic ceased to flow, and the field surrounding this tower collapsed.

Yawpton

When Grimdale called for aid during the initial outbreak, Yawpton answered the call, sending most of their elite forces south to reinforce the walls of their capital.

Despite being guarded by a skeleton crew, Yawpton managed to stave off numerous hordes of the undead, waiting for reinforcements that never came back...alive.

I was sent here from Sundawn a fortnight ago. Since then I have helped Peter, the head of Archeology at Consilio University, in this excavation and analysis of this digsite.

He seems to be very interested in a layer of rock which he believes to be unnaturally older than the surrounding layers.

Axis Mundi

The Library - Saros

Tales go deep as time itself.
The oldest of these sits in Axis Mundi.
No longer is it lost.

We have spent months looking for this city.
When Hestril was sealed, it sank into the Earth, but as recent discoveries point to - nothing is lost forever.

As we suspected the story that is told here opposes the story that was found in those dark depths of Helia.
This great library does not even mention Helia. Surely a city so grand and so old would hold some place in this library.

Hestril was not omniscient, yet he was truthful.
What dark games are being played here and who is Dentril?

Creation - Scribe of Hestril

In the beginning there was one, and he was known as Hestril; his brilliance shining forward into the empty void. Light rushed forward, pockmarking the black nothingness and at last the universe and its host of stars came to be.

Yet this creation was empty - merely a blank slate with no authors.
From himself, he gave life to four others - gods of all elements.

Agni, God and Goddess over the flames of life.
Simoon, God of the wind.
Therum, Goddess of water.
Pluvia, God of water and wisdom.

Together they created the Earth and all of its wonders.
However, this creation weakened Hestril, who had lost a portion of his brilliance.
Yet, the new earth beckoned, cooling from its creation. All would be made right through Hestril.

Humanity - Scribe of Hestril

Formed by Therum and given life to be Agni, humanity rose from the fresh earth.

Humanity was created and placed upon it - to rule over all other earthly creations.

These first humans were brought to Axis Mundi to be shown to Hestril, so that he could bless them with knowledge of the arcane arts.

To the gods dismay, only a few of these humans were chosen by Hestril to inherit this power.

Blessed - Scribe of Hestril

Those blessed with Hestril's grace took this gift and fashioned for themselves a city larger than any man-made city yet, isolated in the jungles of thee east - Agni Ignis.

On each cardinal direction, a statue to the gods that had given us life and, in the center, to hold us all - Hestril.
However, Hestril grew wary of what humanity could do with this gift, and watched carefully from his domain.

Sight - Scribe of Hestril

As humanity flourished under the guidance of the elemental gods, they expanded to all corners of the world.

Great settlements took hold in all places but the northern lake. Hestril had reserved this space for his great city, Axis Mundi.

No human could be allowed into the city without gaining his approval, and no other settlements were permitted here.
Hestril made certain that throughout his world, no human abused his gifts. His magic was pure, and represented the truth.

Yet, as all powerful as he was, he was not omniscient.

Cleansed - Scribe of Hestril

As the sun rises, so does it set. Darkness creeps in where light can not touch.

Humans in the darkest areas of the world twisted their gift and utilized dark magic for the first time.
Revolting magic, it could not be allowed.

When at last, these fallen mages were revealed, Hestril sought them out with impunity.
He scorched their settlements and those surrounding them to the ground and erased those who had wielded this perversion of his gift.

Regret - Scribe of Hestril

Hestril regretted this decision to gift this power to mankind.

Those that had been erased in the east would just be the beginning.
Hestril pondered the possibility of resetting it all.

His power had limits. It would not let him destroy this world, but he could create a new one.
One where humans had no control over this magic.

The elemental gods knew their children were not safe.
All they had done, all they had created, could be nullified by Hestril, should he choose to seek a final judgement on this infant world.

There was no choice for the elemental gods. To protect their creations, they would seal away that which had given them life.

Dangerous Tool - Scribe of Hestril

All magic leaves traces on this world.

While the magic of the Gods is woven perfectly without flaw or emotion, human mages are inherently flawed.
Their emotions guide their use of magic, leaving room for imperfections.

Whether it is a great source of volatile magic or a location of magical importance, each action has consequences on the fabric of our reality if harnessed improperly.

It is impossible to know what these consequences could be beforehand.
Magic is wild and unpredictable. If not guided correctly, a mage could become corrupted.

While bending space is a simple process, easily reversible and healable, time is a fickle construct.
We all serve it, and none can escape it. We can not bend, mutate or mutilate it.

Those who Hestril smited had caused small tears in the fabric of spacetime utilizing impure magic.
These rifts that can form aree highly dangerous and unstable.

The ability to gaze back, through the silver curtain of time to events that have happened is an ability no mortal should possess.
Why see an event that you have no control over or no ability to interact with?

What could you possibly gain from this interaction besides endangering our world?
What they saw; it was not a power they should have learned. These are dangerous tools we have been given.

The Gift - Scribe of Hestril

Those who Hestril graced could tap into the vast, flowing magic that existed in our world. In time these mages would do great and terrible things with this gift.

Described as a connective web that held our world together, these mages could even travel near-instantly across large distances, using what they called the Tether.

The tether was woven into our world, its influence apparent, but never being seen. It existed in a sub-reality and was said to be highly unstable if it was stayed in for too long.

Research Report - Dr.Hudson

A new vaccine is ready for testing, unfortunately, cattle numbers have become thin.
We will need to locate a new animal type for testing. Baxter has gone in search of pigs.
Testing of the new vaccine should commence in the coming weeks, if all goes as planned.

Document MI-LK13 - Dr.Hudson

Milk has been proven to cure infection when given to human who hasn't turned.
The undead have shown no signs of regaining human traits when given vaccines with milk.
Our research has failed to provide information as to exactly why it only works with living subjects.
More testing is needed.

Document Z-87-C - Dr.Preston

Subject: Z-87
Vaccine A-12 was administered to Subject Z-87 under close observation.
Subject entered an enraged state and attempted to break containment.
This continued for 3 hours before subject fell over unconscious.
Dr. Philips has forbidden any further testing with A-12.
"These vaccines are not helping with its behavior. We need to start from scratch."

Research Report - Dr.Davis

While conducting an autopsy on a recently deceased pig, I noticed something strange.
Its decaying skin began to regenerate when it came in accidental contact with Aurum.
After some further experimentation, I've discovered that Aurum will also regenerate the cells of an infected subject, although the effects are only temporary.
I will forward these results to Dr. Hudson.

Document CC-03 - Mr.Darche

Name: Containment Cannon

Description: Defensive measures against potential containment breaches.
Rapid Fire.

Burnt Report - Dr.Kennedy

We've learnt a great deal from this mysterious new dimension accessed through this portal.
Our excavation team has brought back a considerable amount of an unknown white crystal found within the hot surfaces of the cliff sides.
Mining and extracting these new materials has been quite difficult given the unusual terrain of the dimension.
Even, there is so much we can learn from this dimension and so much we can do with these new materials.
Creating and combining...

Field Report 22 - Lieutenant McDaniel

Day 17:
Food is running low, Jason isn't looking good and is becoming dangerous. We've stashed some military gear where he can no longer reach it and we may abandon this base later this week.

Eclipsed Ruins

Buried - Eclipsed

Run...
Just keep running.
That's all we can do now.
We thought we'd be helping, but all we did was repeat history. Now we will be buried, and forgotten.

Artifact - Main

Where darkness abides.
Sunlight Provides.
Beneath a gate of purple, marked by the sun.
Return the eye and a shard will be your guerdon...

Exolesco

Rumors - Perch

I've done my best to unseal the caverns as quietly as possible. It's been difficult, though it should be worth it... The town has been growing more and more suspicious, with the rumor of war getting even greater...

Actions - Perch

The mages struck a great attack on my group and myself. They've tried to come to a compromise: I give over my tower and all of my research, and they will stop fighting. I lied to them, agreeing to their trade, and attacked them while their guard was down. They've since been unrelenting on my group, and don't want to stop until I've been well beyond destroyed...

Cave Travel - Perch

Under no circumstance one should venture down in the caverns below. They were sealed off for a reason... it's far too dangerous for anyone down there. Even with my group, many of us didn't make it... I've noted to bring more than two people in the future...

Final Regrets - Perch

I've made a mistake.
I should have been more open to the town with my work...
This war has ruined us all, and it's all my fault...
These caverns shouldn't have ever been touched again...

Caverns - Perch

Upon going deeper into the caverns, we discovered more about the native mushrooms that grow around here. There seems to be a lot of new species we've never seen before... Some of them have magical properties, like making the world expand around you...

Behemoth - Perch

It arrived at the [OBFUSCATED] around mid[OBFUSCATED]. Moonlight bathed its form as it came [OBFUSCATED] through buildings, ripping people [OBFUSCATED] good, and bad... Everyone gathered away from the [OBFUSCATED] all were back together... for now...

Evergreen Manor

Over the Hill - Evergreen

I've often wondered what those mages wanted over those hills.
I used to see them so often. Always talking about an expansive labyrinth with a grand secret.
But the world is large and full of wonder...
F U L L O F W O
WONDER?
FULL OF DEATH
FULL OF DARKNESS

These Walls - Evergreen

As long as these walls remain strong, no one.....
or should I say... nothing, can get in here.
I knew that this would happen, and I knew that Consilio wasn't the haven they all said it would be.
I can still hear them...begging to be let in.... until their screams turned into moans. All of them.....
Now it's just me...

Grimdale

Silencer - Priest Ivana

The gods have been quiet lately. Where once they replied with clarity and grace there is only silence; deep and unnerving silence.

I will attempt to commune again at sundown.

Stillness - Geron

I’ve had no communication from anyone in the organization.

The world…feels different. Did our plan work? Will people know what we sacrificed to save us? I’ll head to our headquarters by the inland lake.

Hell Tree

Hell Tree - LoreMan

Atop this outcropping in the western caldera, sits the Tree of Agni, or as it is commonly known now – Hell Tree. After the loss of Axis Mundi, these northern volcanoes were raised from the earth and inside one crater, the sapling that would grow into Hell Tree was found.

Worshippers of Agni often took pilgrimages from Frostbain up the dangerous, steep slopes of Mount Therum to catch even the slightest glimpse at this wonder; this beautiful, blazing visage of Agni.

When the gods were wrenched from this world the volcanoes erupted, raining hellfire, ash, and rock upon the world, instantly incinerating the nearby structures built atop this mountain.

Yet, as the ash cleared and the desolation became visible, the tree still stood; its hellish glow flickering ever so slightly. Agni’s flame may have been snuffed, but this spark still remained.

It is said that you can still hear the cries of those unlucky few who had taken that fateful last pilgrimage here as they were roasted within those caves…for they had unwittingly walked into Hell.

Kaocho

Mayor's Log - Mayor Limbus

It was quite an interesting day in Kaocho.
A small rowboat came from the east. The man in the boat seemed quite peculiar, raving about the longlasting benefits of mushroom farming.
He said he came from an island where fungus enveloped the entire landscape.
We'll plant a few of these mushrooms in the ground in the hopes that he'll leave us alone.....

MISSING NEW LORE

Lorfaul Mines

Activity Log - Miner Jim

Day 13:
Here at the bottom we've hidden from the dead that are on a rampage to destroy the world above.
We can only hope our food lasts...

Mining Town

Tattered Diary - Miner Douglas

Day 5
The overseer is certainly getting antsy. Ain't seen him this wound up since that job down in Lorfaul. Something ain't right here in this town, and I'm not excited about the next few weeks.

Day 23
The amount of diamonds in that cave is a sign. We shouldn't be anywhere close to here, especially after that lava leaking everywhere. This is Therum's domain, and she don't like outsiders.

Day 28
If we get this last vein of diamond from beyond that crevice, we get to go home. Lordram called for volunteers. Hopefully I can get out before Therum even knows I've been disturbing her.

Mining Report - Overseer Lordram

Week 1
We've been blasting for weeks, but this rock is harder than we initially expected. Our explosives are having a hard time piercing the cave walls. I'm starting to get a bit suspicious of this "motherlode". The plan must have been miscalculated, but it's not my job to deal with lost profit.

Week 3
I've never seen so much diamond before in all my days. Even with this smaller vein my men and I could live comfortably the rest of our lives. No one would be able to touch us if we ran off with these... but there's more, just beyond a small rocky crevice. More blasting supplies are needed

Week 4
It was a mistake to come here. A third of my men, trapped behind that collapsed wall, First, we'd have sprung into a lava chamber, then the rock composition, and now this? My remaining men are gathering as I write to send a tribute to Therum. May gods have mercy on those poor miners.

Mount Longton

Captain's Log - Captain Willis

Captain's Log, Day 12
Lord Longton has still not recovered from his illness, yet we've heard reports of the dead rampaging across the region. We've held so far, but I've ordered my men to set up a makeshift barricade at the gate, should we need to defend this place further. I fear we may be in for a siege...

Captain's Log, Day 18
We've lost the main gate to the fortress, alongside several guards inside the watchtowers. Their screams will haunt me 'till the end of my days. Longton has demanded we raise the drawbridge, but that would mean cutting off the rest of the garrison. Those poor men will have to survive on their own.

Captain's Log, Day 20
The mission is fruitless. Longton is dying, and my men have all but taken arms against me. I refuse to order the rest of them to die. A few of us have taken turns digging through the northern watchtower, and we're nearly to the bottom of the cliff. Before we leave, I'm going to get those men out of the garrison, if it's the last thing I do.

Longton's Diary - Lord

Day 3
I just ordered Willis to send a word for a doctor. This cough won't let up, and I'm certainly not feeling up to moving. These men seem to want to abandon this place, but that's out of question.

Day 19
Willis needs to stop questioning my judgement, now more than ever! Sure, we just lost the garrison, but they're holding their own and diverting the horde. Once the doctor gets here, he'll see the situation and call for more soldiers from Worthington. We'll be out of this mess in a few days.

Day 32
<The page is covered in incoherent rambling about mutiny, along with blood spatters>

Snow Cabin

Supplies - Occuni

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Day 386

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
D'naam promised us a delivery of supplies in trade for our home in Frostbain. He keeps saying, "I'll come by in the next moon cycle!", but it's been so long... We may not make it...

Lost Runes - Umbra Chiron

Should the New Moon be enacted, our language need not be buried with it.

Here, beneath this henge, a copy of our runes have been left. We are so close...

Sundawn Observatory

Agni's Comet

Entry 17:

Agni’s comet has returned once again. This periodic comet will be very exciting to view this time around. It appears to be passing closer than normal to the earth. I am sure it will be quite a spectacle.

I’ve sent our new ward, Matius, to a dig site just west of Bazel. A dear friend of mine is currently excavating a series of strata that he claims to be “far more ancient than the surrounding layer.” I’m sure Matius would be more useful digging there, than observing here.

Entry 21:

Several members of the more…. ”pious” community seem to have taken the tragedy of Joh Nee A as a sign of “divine retribution”.

As if we could do any harm to our great puppeteers. Our local chaplain has said they haven’t been receptive of his prayers recently…

I have not had any new correspondence with Matius at the digsite. I can only assume that he has been engrossed in his new duties there.

Entry 24:

Refugees have begun flooding across the continental bridge recently. I’ve heard rumors of some outbreak of a new sickness. Symptoms include nausea, delirium, and ultimately insanity.

I feel I would be more useful in Romero where I might be able to observe this virus.

I’ll be departing soon but will return. I’ve noticed an odd dimming of our moon, but that’s for another time.

Torchbar Farm

A Bold Statement- Martil

Recently, we've been receiving more and more demand to move all harvests to Romero for refugees.
How will other towns fare, if they do not receive their shipments?
We can't turn a blind eye to the rest of the world.....

Captain Rat-rum Lore Books

Carmi - Captain's Log

Day 3:
As we have docked here in the city we have come to find it overrun with citizens who have contracted what seems to be a plague! We will ship out in the morning in order to locate a better port with more gold!

Grayvale - Captain's Log

Day 67:
We hit a northern wind and we found this glorious suspended city after spotting it from the ship! We approached the entrance and were turned around by it's inhabitance. As we see no other alternative we have decided to leave. We have no intention of leaving this city unscathed so we are firing a corpse over the walls to see how they feel about their choice as we continue north. Even though we have plenty of rations on board, I sure wish this city had some gold for us!

Ragtag's Cove - Captain's Log

Day Unknown:
We've struck land! The islands around here seem to be scattered like dots on a canvas. We are going to stay here and build a base that can get us started as we get back to full strength. There is a base north not far from here that seems to have deserting troops that we may try to coerce into joining our ranks.
