Barathrum Caverns

Barathrum Caverns is an underground town in the Cave System. It is relatively secluded, but players can easily enter the caves from Clarce. The town is built on a central pillar over a large lake of lava that covers the bottom of the cavern, with two towers separated from the town. In order to enter the town, players must complete some deadly parkour. There are no water refills, making extended stays tough. High-tier loot can be found here, but the likelihood of encountering another player here is next to none.

Barathrum has one of the best places to use a button, with 3 room_high chests in its button room. These chests can spawn iron armor and high-quality food. Barathrum also has a pot_rare chest, which can spawn speed potions and glowstone. Barathrum also has 4 mil_mythic chests, the best military chests in the game outside of dungeons, which can spawn diamond axes and smite 3 swords.

Travel Advisory/Warnings

• There are many treacherous jumps over lava here that are deadly if failed.
• The crypt at the top recently received a change where a button is no longer required to access it, and the pot_rare chest can now be farmed. Players must be relatively far away before it respawns, however.
• There's a crafting table located in the blacksmith, behind some furnaces close to a chest.
• Following multiple updates, the water refills at this town were removed. It's recommended to bring at least two bottles if players wish to stay for an extended amount of time. The nearest water refill is at Clarce Mines or Aurora.
• To get to the brewery, go out of the dormitory through one of the windows to the right and fall onto the brewery's roof. Jumping down here is treacherous, but there's a mythic chest here. To leave the brewery, go outside through the eastern side, walk around the house and go onto a stone path that'll lead back down onto the blacksmith.
• Before arriving here, it is recommended to collect a button to get the high-tier chests in the vault.
• To get to the vault, there's a secret passage in the library, behind the cobwebs.
  • The vault has a deadly parkour challenge with three room_high chests as a reward. Access it with a button by placing a button on the chiseled stone block next to the bookshelves before the parkour jumps. Pressing the button on the chiseled block will open the iron door to the vault for around 9 seconds.
• Players are almost never found here, due to the lack of a water refill and lava parkour.
• Zombie pigmen do not spawn here as it is below -2000. Zombies also very rarely spawn here, but be careful, as they can push players into lava.
• Although rare, wolves can spawn here since the cave system is situated in the snow biome. A pack of them can easily knock players into lava.

Trivia

• Barathrum is Latin for "Infernal region", according to the builder of this location. It makes sense as this place is deadly and full of lava.
• It contains the 3 elemental symbols with the exception of water. They have no real purpose or don't explain anything about the location or Lore.
• The grave of the builder that submitted it, SunkenStar, can be found in the graveyard alongside others.
