Grimdale

Grimdale is among the largest cities in MineZ. Prior to the zombie outbreak, Grimdale was the capital city. The city contains a variety of buildings which offer diverse loot. Grimdale is a common place for freshly spawned players to visit to get low-level armor, food, and other items. However, Grimdale can at times be dangerous due to the the high spawn rate of zombies. Grimdale is also the home of the Thieves Guild.

Note: Due to the sheer amount of buildings, chests, and size of the city, a full list won't be provided. Only important chests or noteworthy spots will be mentioned.

• The crypt under the church contains a good concentrated amount of military chests (11).
• Potion chests can be found at the church (4), the central tree (1), and the capital courthouse (2).
• The docks contain a good concentrated amount of tool chests (7).

Travel Advisory/Warnings

• Zombies commonly spawn on trees and the roofs of buildings. As zombies cannot take fall damage, one can jump off a building and attack without warning.
• Every building in Grimdale has at least one chest of basic loot. Food chests are abundant in Grimdale, making it a common place for people to stock up on large amounts of food.
• Players intending to enter Thieves Guild must travel through the Grimdale Sewers.

Trivia

• It used to be possible to legitimately parkour onto the roofs of Grimdale by jumping from the Gallows block onto the fence, and from there onto the lower roof of the Inn. The builders stopped this by making the fence higher, so the only way up was with a Weak Grapple.
• Spooky Grimdale was brought back to MineZ for Halloween 2017. The loot didn't change but most common routes were now blocked due to the destruction inside the town. Because of this, one could climb on top of most rooftops. This allowed the player to jump into one of the ghasts near the church, revealing that they're just machines. The big ghast atop of the church could've been reached through some pistons on top of it. When inside, the player could manually shoot fire charges.
  • A new version was made for Halloween 2018. Most buildings and streets were slightly destroyed, similar to Halloween 2017. This time there were no ghasts. Instead, there are a lot of giant pumpkins, pumpkins and small pumpkins (player heads)
    • The crypt located in the graveyard near the church would stay closed until night. It would open once it was night time. Going down some stairs there'd find some buttons. 5 jack-o-lanterns with buttons on them had to be found in under 5 minutes to get a reward, usually some food or a rare food item. There were some small pumpkins with arrows on them that could guide to finding the jack-o-lanterns.
  • The 2017 version is actually a slightly modified halloween build submission by Mosh_Von_Void nicknamed 'The Grimdale Attack' (Link)

Lore Block

• There is a Lore Block inside the courthouse:

The former capital of the living, Grimdale is said to have played host to the group dedicated to freeing humanity from the tyranny of the elemental gods. It is here that they penned their plan, dispersed across the land, and created a resistance. However, no one could have foreseen the calamity that arose after their plan succeeded. Grimdale was one of the last cities to fall to this calamity; its massive walls and fortifications quelled wave upon wave of the dead. In the end, a weak spot in the fortifications proved to be this city's... and humanity's downfall.
