Text Walkthrough
Entrance Keypad (Difficulty: 1 / 10)
- To open the entrance to the dungeon, players must input the correct code on the keypad at the end of the hall
- The code can be found by pressing a stone button hidden behind a log near the entrance to the instance
- Some buttons deviate from the standard number pad format, with the buttons instead corresponding to the follow numbers:
4 9 3 1 5 2 7 6 8
- A reset button can be found to the right of the keypad if a mistake is made
- After successfully entering the code, a passage will open in the middle of the hallway. Follow it into the dungeon, then proceed left in the main room to find the first challenge
Dispenser Passageway (2 / 10)
- Pressing the stone button between the dispensers will cause them both to shoot an arrow against the other wall. It will also spawn a zombie in the middle of the area
- The iron bar gate will open if both arrows make it to the wall. If an arrow is interrupted by a player or zombie, then the stone button will need to be pressed again
- There are five gates to pass through, meaning the process must be repeated five times
- In the room immediately after the final gate, there are two stone pressure plates. One will burn the leaves blocking a dispenser, while the other will cause the dispenser above to randomly shoot a splash potion of either Harming or Healing. Neither pressure plate is necessary to interact with
- Follow the path, being wary of the active zombie spawner near the water
Wither Skull Bridge (5 / 10)
- Press the wooden button on the wall to open the iron bar gate and start the challenge
- Four rows of wither skulls will be shot down the bridge from the other side, dealing 2 hearts of damage and inflicting Wither II for 20 seconds if they hit the player
- To avoid the wither skulls, look at the rows of redstone lamps on the ceiling. One redstone lamp will be lit up, indicating that the column below it is safe
- Cross the bridge and fall down into the cobweb pit, then proceed into the next room
- There is no way to get back up if the player falls off the bridge
Growing Vines Room (3 / 10)
- Press the stone button on the wall to cause a column of vines to grow. Quickly climb up the vines once they reach the ground, as they will begin to retract upwards afterwards
- Parkour across to the other side of the room and repeat the process, pressing another stone button to grow more vines downwards
- At the top of these vines, there is 1 Potion Common loot chest
- Press the stone button near the leaves to open cobblestone fence wall and proceed forward
Lava Vine Parkour (8 / 10)
- Climb up the vines and parkour across the room, taking caution of the repeatedly-firing arrows
- The entire room is over a pool of lava. There are cobblestone slabs that can be gotten onto if a player is to fall. There is also 1 St. Roseluck Crypt loot chest at the other end of the room on the bottom, below the exit
- The first wooden slab can be easily landed on, however the player should quickly jump past to avoid being shot by an arrow
- The second wooden slab can be climbed directly onto from a vine. From this slab, the player must jump to the next set of vines. From these vines, the player should start from the back of them and look towards the next set they intend to grab on to, then hold forwards to get the momentum required to reach them
- Drop onto the third wooden slab and cross to the other side of the log beam. The next jump will require the player to catch the vines by sneaking / holding jump as they pass them, depending on the version they are in
- Cross back to the other side of the beam and climb the vines. Similarly to before, the player must get enough momentum to get over the final iron bars
- Press the stone button near the iron bar gate to open the way to the next room
Crane Room (3 / 10)
- There is 1 Military Uncommon loot chest in the Southwest corner of this room
- Flip the hidden lever located in the upper Southeast corner of the room to cause the crane to drop the log it holds, breaking open the central wooden cover
- There are two levers on the nearby wooden post that do nothing
- Carefully drop down through the open debris into the water below
- Be wary of the several zombie spawners within the room.
Moving Platform Ravine (6 / 10)
- Continue along the Northern wall of the room to an iron bar gate. Press the button near it to open it and proceed up the stairway, dropping down into a collapsed hallway
- Climb the vines near the hallway to the raised area and head to the other side. Press the wooden button to activate a moving platform. Cross the gap using this platform
- Follow the parkour path to another moving platform, riding it to a set of vines. Climb them quickly
- It is necessary to jump in order to begin climbing these vines
- Cross the bridge and climb up the next set of vines. Push the stone button on the left then drop down into the water below
- Follow the Northern wall until you reach the gate and then cross the water to reach a staircase leading to a pressure plate that will place the player back toward the start of the room
- Ascend the staircase once again and drop back down into the collapsed hallway
- Throw an item onto the iron pressure plate hidden within the gravel next to the drop, then place an item onto the pressure plate in the hallway across. This will cause a platform above the first hallway to begin moving, as well as opening the exit door
- Quickly reach the moving platform and use it to cross the gap and enter the doorway. If the player is not fast enough after crossing, the door will close. If this happens, or the platform is not reached in time, pick up both items and replace them to try again
- Head down the water-filled hallway until a cobblestone fence wall is reached. Press the stone button on the wall to the right to open it and proceed forwards
- The wall will close if the player waits too long and cannot be opened again!
- The ravine has multiple zombie spawners throughout it, exercise caution
Wave Room (6 / 10)
- Shoot the two wooden buttons to start the wave room, dropping zombies from the ceiling
- After each wave of zombies are cleared, the buttons will reappear and can be shot again. The player must defeat five waves of zombies then shoot the buttons a sixth time to open the way forward
- Follow the path forward after the room is complete and press the stone button on the wall to open the iron bar gate. Pressing the button will also spawn several zombies behind the player
- These zombies do not need to be killed in order to proceed, so the player may attempt to sneak by if desired
Vine Parkour Tunnel (6 / 10)
- Jump to the vines and ascend the tunnel using them. This challenge is inconsistent and failing it will cause the player to fall back into the wave room, taking hefty fall damage
- If failed, the player can easily return to the tunnel, but may have to fight the zombies spawned earlier if not already dealt with
- Once at the top, head into the room and press the button on the wall to be teleported
Corridors and Mini-Bridge (2 / 10)
- Press the stone button and head down the corridor, then press the next stone button once everyone is present and follow the path forward
- There is an alternative path in this room that is opened by a stone pressure plate. Going through takes the player to a waterfall and another stone pressure plate, which opens an iron bar door back into the moving platforms room. Doing this will lock the player out if they are solo, forcing them to logout. The only purpose of this path is to allow other players through if there are at least three players and one did not complete the wave room
- Eventually, a bridge surrounded by four wooden buttons will be reached. Shoot each button and head into the next room they open
Riddle Room (2 / 10)
- The riddle states that "The bridge points the way." This is referring to the wither skull bridge, with the correct way being the left door
- Both the middle and the right pathways will teleport the player into an inescapable lava pool
Boss Room (8 / 10)
- The boss room has a brief explanation in chat once the player enters it
- Pressing the button to the left of the large wall of wooden buttons starts the boss
- Across the room from the button wall is a quartz block wall of the same size. When the boss room starts, some of the quartz blocks will turn into redstone blocks. These blocks must be mirrored by pressing the corresponding buttons on the button wall
- The pattern of the redstone blocks should be projected onto the button wall, not flipped. For example, a redstone block in the top right means that the top left button should be pushed
- Once the pattern is replicated, the player can either press or shoot the wooden button to the right of the wall to input the code. If correct, the lava behind the glass to the right of the keypad will rise to indicate a success. If incorrect, the floor below the button wall will disappear and drop any above players into lava with no way of escaping
- Three randomized puzzles must be completed consecutively to access the loot room. The amount of time the player has to input a pattern, as indicated by redstone lamps to the left of the keypad, speeds up after each successfully input pattern. If the player is not confident in their ability to finish a puzzle, they should retreat as to not fall into the lava trap
- After three puzzles have been completed in a row, the player needs to press the start button a final time to open the loot room
Loot Room (1 / 10)
- Loot the 12 St. Roseluck Crypt loot chests and collect the 2 legendary items
- Walking forward will exit the instance, putting the player on the side of St. Roseluck Island
Travel Advisory / Warnings
- The dungeon is unusually difficult for how far south it is located. Make sure to bring decent gear for it
- Despite only requiring 16 arrows, it is heavily advised to bring more in case the player misses or needs to use them elsewhere in the dungeon
- The Cleansing Elixir legendary item and the Revanent's Remedy, are useful items to cleanse the wither effect if the player is hit by a wither skull. A potion of Fire Resistance is helpful if the player fails the lava vine parkour room, and is almost necessary to survive if the player fails the boss room. Feather Falling boots allow the player to survive certain drops in the moving platform room if they fail
- It is advised to have a mix of grenades or axes to clear the wave room efficiently
- This dungeon is often completed by experienced players to gear up. Any player encountered on the island should be assumed hostile
Trivia
- This is the only soloable Very Hard difficulty dungeon in the game. It is also the southernmost Very Hard difficulty dungeon by over a thousand blocks
- The dungeon was originally released without the code to it. A group of dungeoneers managed to guess the code and play the dungeon early. The sign in the wave room staying "Here lies the dungeoneers" is a reference to this group
- It was closed from September 2017 to April 28th, 2018 because the boss room did not work. When it was reopened, the boss room would kick players who used versions 1.13+ until an update on November 25th, 2020
- The wave room has experienced a massive amount of small build changes over the years to prevent spots where the zombies could not hit the player
- To exit the dungeon, the player originally had to swim through lava walls. This was eventually changed to a teleport pad that teleported the player to the church, then eventually changed into its current rendition where the player exits to the side of the island
- The wither skull bridge could originally be cheated by shifting off the side of it or by sitting back by the door, however both of these were patched
- There is a wooden button on the wall in the pit of lava in the boss room. Pressing it links to a video of the Terminator giving a thumbs up before being submerged in lava, similarly to the player
