Text Walkthrough

Flooded Tunnel (Difficulty: 2 / 10)

  • The player must traverse a tunnel filled with water. Along the way, there are soulsand patches with bubbles rising from them. Swimming over these patches will give the player Water Breathing for a short amount of time
  • The flooded tunnel has three intersections. Choosing the wrong path at any of them will lead to a dead end. The correct pattern to take is: right at the first intersection, right at the second intersection, and left at the third intersection. The player will reach a waterfall, signaling the end of the tunnel
    • Players in versions 1.13+ should be careful using the swim mechanic as it can result in them getting stuck

Entrance Cave (7 / 10)

  • Descend the waterfall and enter the cave to the right
    • Falling into the water in this section and the first cavern will teleport the player to the top of the waterfall and deal 3 hearts of damage
    • Avoid the stone pressure plates scattered around the floors of the dungeon. They apply Blindness / Nausea for 4 seconds and Hunger / Wither III for 2 seconds (dealing 2 hearts of damage)
  • Follow the path until a granite wall with a TNT block in front of it is reached. Drop an item on the “torch” (the magma block surrounded by trapdoors) to light it. Shoot an arrow through the lit torch at the TNT to ignite it and open the path forward
    • The TNT in this dungeon deals no explosion damage to entities
  • Continuing up the path, a box full of “Bilge Rats” (silverfish) will break open. Defeat all the Bilge Rats to open the gate
  • Enter through the gate and complete the parkour. This section features andesite stalactites which fall when shot with an arrow, making the parkour possible to complete

First Cavern (8 / 10)

  • Parkour across the bottoms of the stone pillars in order to reach the sandy shore area. From here, jump across the top of the stone pillars until an intersection is reached
    • The entirety of the shore has Zombie and Zombie Pigman spawners hidden inside of it. These mobs can drop into the water to follow players or unintentionally trigger stone pressure plate traps
  • At the intersection, one player must take the north path. They have to light a torch at the end of it, then shoot an arrow through the fire to ignite a TNT on the shore to the north
    • A player then has to enter the newly-opened room and light another torch, taking caution due to the many hidden Zombie Pigman spawners in it. This will spawn a stone button at the end of the southern parkour path, which will allow players to open the door to the second cavern.
  • The rest of the team should continue along the south path, eventually reaching a small plateau with a closed doorway and a stone button on a chiseled stone brick (after the aforementioned torch has been lit)
    • Alternatively, the team may wait for another play to complete the “Mast” challenge in the second cavern. This will create a waterfall from the western wall which allows the team to skip the parkour
  • Pressing the stone button opens the doorway to the second cavern and spawns four sword-wielding “Cursed Crew” (skeletons) on the ground and one bow-wielding Cursed Crew in the rafters. These mobs have high amounts of health and should be killed before entering the cavern. The bowman (and all bowmen going forward) also has a Punch X bow which deals extreme knockback

Second Cavern (7 / 10)

  • The goal of the second cavern is to build a boat using five pieces (Cannon, Mast, Sail, Flag, and Rudder) scattered across five different challenges. The cavern contains the broken boat (which is across the room from the entrance) and acts as a crossroads for these challenges
    • Be wary of hidden Zombie and Zombie Pigman spawners in all parts of the room. The safest place to be is on or near the boat
  • The ship pieces can be acquired in any order, however some of them require the completion of other challenges before they can be accessed

Mast - TNT Cave / Toxic Tunnels Challenge (6 / 10)

  • The first challenge (commonly referred to as "Toxic Tunnels") is located near the entrance to the cavern, however it is blocked by a granite wall
  • The nearby acacia wood box has a stalactite above it. Shooting the stalactite with an arrow will cause it to fall and launch a TNT block next to the wall. Light the nearby torch and ignite the TNT with an arrow to open the path forward.
    • This will cause two sword-wielding and one bow-wielding Cursed Crew to spawn in the cave
  • The cave is filled with hidden Zombie spawners and stone pressure plate traps. To progress, the player must repeat the process of lighting a torch and igniting TNT with an arrow twice more. Each time, two sword-wielding and one bow-wielding Cursed Crew will spawn further down the tunnel
  • A ship overlooking the first cavern is situated at the end of the cave. Pressing the stone button on the floor of the ship will teleport all nearby players to the button’s location and enclose the ship in glass blocks, preventing players from entering or exiting
  • After three seconds, five sword-wielding Cursed Crew will spawn from the skeleton skulls on the ground. After a minute has passed, a “Cursed Corsair” (skeleton) will spawn. It has more health than a Cursed Crew and does not take any knockback
    • This “wave room” pattern is present in each of the five boat piece challenges. It can be assumed that when a “pattern A wave room” is mentioned for the other challenges, it will spawn these enemies in the same pattern
  • Defeating the Cursed Corsair will remove the glass barrier surrounding the ship and open the aftercastle, which contains the Mast item and three Zerbia_Refill loot chests. It will also spawn a golden pressure plate on the bow of the ship. Standing on this pressure plate will raise four wooden platform and lower a waterfall on the shore of the first cavern
    • This waterfall can be used to skip the higher part of the cavern’s parkour
  • To get back to the second cavern, the player may either go back through the cave (taking caution due to the numerous Zombie spawners and stone pressure plate traps) or drop down into the first cavern to ascend the newly-activated waterfall

Flag - Head Challenge (5 / 10)

  • The newly-raised wooden platforms in the first cavern are used to access this challenge. Parkour across them to reach a cave with eight trapped chests and TNT in the middle of it
  • Near the entrance to the room is a golden skull on a table. The skull is facing the direction of the correct chest to open (ex. if the skull is facing south, open the southern chest). Opening it will remove the TNT in the middle of the room, allowing the player to drop down into an arena
    • Choosing the incorrect chest will deal 4 hearts of damage to the player that opened it
  • Pressing the stone button on the floor of the arena will teleport all nearby players to the button’s location and enclose the area in glass blocks, starting a pattern A wave room
  • Defeating the Cursed Corsair will remove the glass barrier surrounding the area and create a bridge to the room containing the Mast item and three Zerbia_Refill loot chests
  • The exit to this room leads to the cave in the first cavern that contains the torch necessary to enter the second cavern. This room has a large amount of Zombie Pigman spawners

Cannon - Crate Puzzle / RDT Challenge (7 / 10)

  • This challenge is commonly referred to as the “RDT challenge” due to its similarities to puzzles from the dungeon Red Demon Temple
  • To enter the challenge, open the gate near the boat by lighting four torches in the hot sand pit across the room. The torches can be reached via nether brick fence parkour or by using Fire Resistance to negate the hot sand’s effects
    • The hot sand will deal around 1 heart of damage and randomly knock the player around every second it is stood on
  • Two sword-wielding Cursed Crew will spawn inside the gate when it is opened. Defeat them and advance through the parkour section to reach the main room of the challenge. The player can climb back up near the gate if they fall on the parkour
  • The main room has a torch in each corner. Light and shoot an arrow through each at the leaf-covered crate in the middle. This will burn the leaves off of it, allowing it to be pushed
    • This room also has a dark oak crate in a corner with a stalactite above it. Shoot the stalactite to break open the crate, which contains a Cannonball item. The cannonball is required to access the Sail item / arrow bridge challenge
  • Push the crate onto the dark gray wool on the northern side of the room to open the locked gate near it. Parkour over the pit and push the stone button behind the crate on the other side. This will create a bridge over the pit that allows the crate to be pushed back to the main room
    • The pit is filled with Zombie Pigman spawners
  • Push both crates onto the dark gray wool on the southern side of the room to open the locked gate near it. Push both wooden buttons inside the gate at the same time to raise the next gate and spawn a large amount of Zombies and Zombie Pigmen from the ceiling. Repeat this process two more times to access a third crate, which should be pushed into the main room
  • Align the three crates in a line from the entrance of the room to the opposite side. Jump across the top of them to reach a small room
  • Pressing the stone button on the floor of the small room will teleport all nearby players to the button’s location and block the entrance with glass blocks, starting a pattern A wave room
  • Defeating the Cursed Corsair will remove the glass blocking the entrance and open the gate to the room containing the Cannon item and three Zerbia_Refill loot chests
  • Exit the challenge the same way it was entered

Sail - Arrow Bridge Challenge (8 / 10)

  • Drop the Cannonball item from the crate puzzle into the cannon near the cavern’s entrance. This will cause the cannon to shoot the mast in the center of the room, knocking it down and creating a path over the hot sand pit to access the challenge
  • The arrow bridge is a two-block-wide wooden bridge that is filled with cobwebs and has arrows being shot at it from both sides. The player must cross it to proceed
    • The pit below the bridge has water for the player to fall in if they are knocked off, however it is also filled with a large amount of Zombie Pigman spawners. There is a ladder at the beginning of the room to get back up if one does fall
    • The arrows inflict Hunger II, Weakness II, Wither II, and Slowness II for 4 seconds
  • After crossing the bridge, the player must complete a stalactite parkour section to reach a small cave
  • Pressing the stone button on the floor of the small cave will teleport all nearby players to the button’s location and block the entrance with glass blocks, starting a pattern A wave room
  • Defeating the Cursed Corsair will remove the glass blocking the entrance and open a pit in the middle of the room. Drop into the pit to find a room containing the Sail item and one Zerbia_Refill loot chest, with two more loot chests located on the shipwreck overlooking the arrow bridge
  • To exit the challenge, either drop down into the water below the arrow bridge and climb the ladder back up or jump onto the arrow bridge and traverse back

Rudder - Hunger Bridge Challenge (6 / 10)

  • The fifth challenge is located on the western side of the cavern. It consists of a long bridge over water with lamps along its length
    • Take caution getting here, as a bow-wielding Cursed Crew hides in the waterfall nearby
  • The iron pressure plate in front of the bridge starts the challenge. The lanterns will light up in order, creating an aura around each that protects the player. Leaving their radius while on the bridge will constantly inflict Hunger X and Wither ? for ? seconds
  • Once across, there is one Zerbia_Refill loot chest and a rotted door. Sprint and jump into the rotted door to break it open, revealing a sword-wielding Cursed Crew inside the small room. Kill it and proceed through the hole in the wall
  • Complete the single parkour jump and enter in a square room, which will serve as an arena
  • Pressing the stone button on the floor of the square room will teleport all nearby players to the button’s location and block all sides of it with glass blocks, starting a pattern A wave room
  • Defeating the Cursed Corsair will remove the glass blocking the sides and open the path to a piston. Stand on the piston and press the stone button near it to be launched upwards. Climb the ladder into the room containing the Rudder item and three Zerbia_Refill loot chests
  • Exit the room by pushing the wooden button marked by a player head. This opens a nearby door that leads to the top of the waterfall near the start of the bridge

Repairing the Boat (1 / 10)

  • Bring the five boat pieces to the anvil near the broken boat and step on the golden pressure plate to begin the repair process. Drop each item onto the anvil in the correct order to affix them to the boat. Once all five items have been attached, the boat is ready to set sail!
    • The boat will be impossible to reach from the dock after it has started sailing. Ensure that all players are on it before starting to sail
    • From now on, falling into the water will teleport the player into a black box rather than to the top of the starting waterfall. To escape the box, sink or swim downwards to be teleported out of the dungeon and into the prison section of Zerbia

Gather all your mates on the ship, then right-click on the fence gate to move the ship forward.

Before each ship stop, there will be some ranged Cursed Crew skeletons with a Punch X bow standing on some logs on the sides of the cavern. Try to shoot them before you get near them so they don't have the range to shoot you out of the ship.

When you've killed the skeletons, move the boat all the way forward to the next dock.

When the boat stops, 2 Cursed Crew with stone swords will spawn and try to invade the ship. Kill them and proceed.

First Ship Stop (8/10)

  • Get to the top of the cave.
  • When you reach the end of the cave, look on the eastern side of the cavern, there will be a hidden wooden button behind the ferns. Shoot this button to open the gate to the tree room.
  • In this room, you're gonna have to parkour up a tree. The room has no zombie spawners.
  • Once you get on the top of the tree, get in the next room and restock using the chests here.

First Wave Room (9/10)

  • Once you press the button in the middle of the room, a wave room will start.
  • There are 9 waves. The further you go in the wave room, the more zombies and pigmen will spawn.
  • When the 9th wave spawns, a Cursed Quartermaster will spawn at the same time as the zombies. This skeleton is really fast, has a lot of health, and deal 2.5 hearts of damage to full-iron players.
  • After defeating the skeleton, a cannonball will drop in the middle of the room. Grab it.
  • Get back to the boat and use the cannonball on the cannon to clear the way for the boat.
  • Kill the Cursed Crew and get to the second ship stop.

Second Ship Stop (8/10)

  • Get to the top of the cave, there will be a piston aiming to the east side, with a wooden pressure plate below it.

Stand on the wooden plate and jump instantly, and you should be launched to the other side of the room. If you do it wrong, you will get launched in the water. Then you will get on the middle of the 4 pistons and press the wooden button to get launched on top of the room. To reach the wave room, you're gonna have to parkour across the lanterns on the west side, then go upstairs. Once you get in the wave room, you can collect the 6 supply chests.

Second Wave Room (9/10)

  • Once you press the button in the middle of the room, a wave room will start. Same circumstances as the first wave room apply here.
  • After defeating the Cursed Quartermaster, a cannonball will drop in the middle of the room. Grab it.
  • Get back in the room with the lanterns, but instead of going upstairs, go downstairs and drop into cobweb, then make your way to the ship.
  • Before you get to the third ship stop, there will be 2 Cursed Crew on the top, but also 2 Cursed Crew that you will only be able to shoot when close to them, which means that they will be able to shoot back.
    • Try to hide behind the mast, shoot them, and instantly hide, to avoid being knocked off the boat.

Third Ship Stop (10/10)

  • Get on the top of the cave to enter the next room.
  • In this room, you're gonna have to do some parkour while having blindness. The first jump is on the south side. Jump from the stone to the stair.
  • Once you get to the end of the blindness room, look at the back of the room on the south side, and shoot the wooden button to open the next room.
  • The next room is hard-timed parkour, but it has a water refill and no zombie spawners.
  • Every time you shoot the 2 wooden buttons on the same line, it spawns the parkour, but be careful, you're gonna have to parkour in the middle of cobblestone walls and fences.
  • Once you get in the wave room, you can restock on some chests.

Third Wave room (9/10)

  • Same as the last two wave rooms.
  • To get back to the ship, go back in the blindness room, and get on the fences on the left side of it. This leads you to a ladder to go back to the cave.

Mini-Boss Trial (8/10)

  • When you get to the last dock, 2 Cursed Crew will spawn.
  • There will be 2 doors, one on the east and one on the west, each containing a puzzle room and min-boss.
  • Once the 2 mini-bosses are defeated, press the button on the southside of the dock and enter the room.

Wither Bridge Challenge (8/10)

  • To open this room, look north from the boat, and on each side of the cavern, there will be a wooden button to shoot.
  • In this room, you need to get across the wooden bridge, but there will be 14 dispensers of wither skulls shooting at you. If you get hit by a wither skull, you get wither II for 20 seconds.
  • Every wave of wither skulls, 4 lights will be on, if you get on the line of those lights, you won't get hit by the wither effect.
  • Once you get to the other side of the bridge, walk on the andesite and it will automatically break.
  • You're now in another wave room with 6 chests that you can collect.

Fourth Wave Room (7/10)

  • At the start of the wave room, 9 Cursed Crew will spawn.
  • 30 seconds after, a Cursed Firstmate will appear, stronger than the Cursed Quartermaster and deals 3 hearts of damage full-iron.
  • When you defeat the skeleton, a ladder will appear in the middle of the room. Use it to get back to the wither bridge room.
  • Drop on the sand and run to the ladder at the opposite side of the room, then head through the hallway back to the intersection.

Moving Boats Challenge (8/10)

  • To open the door to this room, step on the 3 note blocks with the wooden pressure plates close from the door.
  • In this room, there are 6 wooden buttons, 3 on each side. Whenever a wooden button is shot, a boat will spawn on the same line, and move to the other side.
  • You have to shoot each button one by one to spawn all the boats and parkour on them to get across the water.
    • The water in this area gives Poison I as long as you remain in it.

Fifth Wave Room (6/10)

  • Same rules as the fifth wave room.
  • After defeating the skeleton, go back to the previous room and make your way back to the trial by parkouring on the lanterns on the roof of the room.

Boss Room (10/10)

  • The boss room starts at the moment any player gets in the middle of the room. There are 10 waves of skeletons that will spawn in 5 different places.
  • The goal of this wave room is to protect the island in the middle. If any skeleton manages to get on the island, it will give wither, blindness, slowness, and nausea to everyone in the room for 3 seconds.
    • The estimated amount of enemies that spawn per wave are as follow:
      • Wave 1: 25 Scallywag (and other name variations) (5 per spawn point).
        • Scallywags are unarmored skeletons that can be easily killed.
      • Wave 2: 25 Scallywag
      • Wave 3: 25 Scallywag / 5 Cursed Crew
      • Wave 4: 25 Scallywag / 10 Cursed Crew
      • Wave 5: 25 Scallywag / 5 Cursed Crew / 5 Cursed Corsairs
      • Wave 6: 25 Scallywag / 10 Cursed Crew / 5 Cursed Corsairs
      • Wave 7: 25 Scallywag / 10 Cursed Crew / 5 Cursed Corsairs / 5 Cursed Firstmate
      • Wave 8: 25 Scallywag / 10 Cursed Crew / 5 Cursed Corsairs / 5 Cursed Quartermaster
      • Wave 9: 25 Scallywag / 10 Cursed Crew / 5 Cursed Corsairs / 5 Cursed Quartermaster / 5 Cursed Firstmate
      • Wave 10: 25 Scallywag / 15 Cursed Crew / 10 Cursed Corsairs / 5 Cursed Quartermaster / 5 Cursed Firstmate
  • When you are done with the 10 waves, a ladder appears on the south side and you can access the loot room and get the Blunderbuss and the 50 chests.

Travel Advisory / Warnings

  • Zerbia Depths is and will always be the most difficult dungeon in MineZ. Players should not attempt it without being fully prepared and knowledgeable about the challenge that awaits them
  • While the minimum players required for the dungeon is only 1, it is incredibly difficult to solo and requires rare and specialized items to do so
  • There are multiple cakes placed throughout the dungeon that can be eaten if the player is low on food
  • Water refills can be found throughout the entire dungeon
  • Crafting Tables are found rarely placed throughout the dungeon, notably after pattern A wave room challenges
  • There are numerous harvestable melons that respawn after some time found throughout the dungeon. It can be a good idea to bring a Hoe to harvest them
  • There is one brewing stand located in the room directly after crossing the hunger bridge
  • The boat pieces are found on anvils and the boat is constructed with an anvil. These can be used similarly to other anvils
  • The dungeon can take upwards to three hours. Prepare to be in it for a large amount of time
  • Legendary Items such as a Lone Sword, Masamune, or Heal Bow are helpful so the player does not have to rely on potions for healing
  • It is highly recommended to bring an Infinity bow. It is also helpful to bring a large amount of snowballs and grenades (or a diamond axe) to deal with the large amount of mobs present in the dungeon
  • Astrum Gamma (Smite V) and Astrum Omega (Smite V, Knockback I) books from Axis Mundi are capable of killing Zombies in the dungeon in one hit. These books are especially valuable due to not having durability, giving the player a consistent method to deal with the large hoards of mobs found in the dungeon
  • Players have enough time to run back to the dungeon instance and retrieve their player zombies should they die in it

Trivia

  • The dungeon is so difficult to complete that an official challenge was hosted to reward those that first conquered it. The results of this challenge can be found in this forum thread
  • The dungeon is heavily pirate-themed. The Mobs found throughout it are named after pirate ranks, the Legendary Bows are named after pirate weapons, and the general aesthetic of the build contains many references to pirate ships and architecture
  • The dungeon was originally meant to be twice as long, however it was cut in half due to its exceptional length. The current dungeon is the first half, while the second half was never released
  • There is a mini-headhunt located entirely in the dungeon instance. It consists of finding seven "Dragon Ball" player heads, a direct reference to the anime Dragon Ball. Finding and right clicking them all will reward the player with special loot
    • This mechanic is currently broken
  • When the dungeon first released, the hunger bridge challenge accidentally gave everyone on the server Hunger X when it was failed. As the instance system did not exist at the time, players across an entire public server ended up starving to death!
  • The loot room contains unique loot only found in Zerbia Depths, namely the Powder Kegs and Cannon Rounds. It was originally the only place to find quivers, however they were removed from the loot pool when they were made craftable. It also used to drop Reinforced Iron Armor, however it was removed for balance reasons
