Inside the town

Romero is a popular southern landmark and one of the largest towns in MineZ. Newly-spawned players often head here first because of its large quantity of loot chests and availability of health potions.

The Night's Watch HQ is beside the church, another important landmark, as it is a safe haven from zombies and the Romero Sewers are located below the town.

To the east of Romero you can find the town of Carmi, a less crowded place, by crossing the Continental Bridge. To the north of Romero is Sundawn Observatory, a great place to find good military gear.

Travel Advisory/Warnings

  • 3 crafting tables can be found in Romero: 1 is in the bakery at (1778, 81, 425), another is in the forge at (1761, 81, 473), and the last one is in the farmhouse at (1652, 81, 452).
  • There are 3 melons and 2 beetroots in the farmhouse located outside of the town.
  • Players spawn on the coastline and enter from the road or the Continental Bridge.
  • Survivors frequently visit this town and the health potion chests in the church will often be already looted.
  • If the town is covered with zombies, it is a good idea to go into the Romero Sewers, as zombies rarely spawn there and several chests can be found.
  • There is a large hole in the Northwest corner of the walls surrounding the city. Useful for heading north or to St. Roseluck Island.
  • If you are heading towards Romero while playing on a public server, you should make sure you have the gear and proper supplies to withstand the large number of zombies lurking here.
  • The Night's Watch HQ is next to the church and is operated by pressure pads and is a good place to hide from zombies. If you are traveling with a friend, go to the basement and stand on the pressure plates. This opens you to a safe room with 2 cakes and a water fountain.
  • There are 2 brewing stands located in the meeting hall entrance of the Night's Watch HQ, which requires 2 players to open the door to access them.
  • The sewers lead to an exit at sea level on Romero's east side. This can be utilized as a alternative entrance to the town.

Trivia

  • The name of the town is probably a reference to George A. Romero, who directed the film 'Night of the Living Dead'.
  • Three times, this place has transformed into a location called Spooky Romero on October with different features and extra chests and may do so again.
  • There is a small tomb under the centre staircase of the Night's Watch HQ which has signs that read "Here Lies Navarr Commander of the Night's Watch". Under the tomb are 6 heads of Navarr himself.

Lore

Lore Blocks

  • There's a Lore Block here, located inside the church at (1775, 81, 526):
History of Romero, Section 1 : The seaside town of Romero, now home of the Night's Watch, became ground zero for the plague that would ravage the world.

  • Another found in the Romero Sewers, at (1794, 73, 418):
History of Romero, Section 2 : Initial infections and subsequent deaths were thought to be little more than a common cold, the bodies being moved to the sewer as no better method for disposal existed.

When the dead rose though, this storage in the sewer backfired. Too many laid sick and dying above ground to mount any resistance and a decision to abandon the city was made.

  • Finally, a Lore Block found in the Night Watch's HQ, on the first floor at (1798, 86, 524):
History of Romero, Section 3: The city’s watch mounted a full-scale quarantine of the city, even going as far as blasting apart a length of the continental bridge to stop Refugees and this sickness from spreading to the East. Breaking the bridge only succeeded in isolating the East.

However, this quarantine was too little, too late. The damage had already been done. The infection had spread too far, and too quickly to be contained.
