They have poor vision, but can hear well enough to detect you, especially if you're sprinting and/or jumping. If you get hit by a zombie, it can alert nearby zombies, causing them to run over and attack you. The use of grenades can stun zombies, as well as the use of a snowball, which will confuse all zombies and prevent them from attacking you for a short period of time. Use this to your advantage. |

This zombie will have the original player's armor and sword equipped, as well as having the player's nameplate above it. Player zombies are capable of dealing more damage and can have more protection, as they will equip the best armor and weapon the player had. When killed, they will drop everything that player was carrying in their inventory. When a determined period time passed from the player's zombie spawn, it may not drop the loot the dead player had. |

Their attacks deal 3 hearts of true damage, meaning they deal 3 hearts of damage no matter what armor you're using, making them a threat at all stages of the game. When killed, a zombie pigman will explode and spawn 4 baby zombies. The explosion itself can deal up to 4 hearts of damage on an unarmored player. It is worth noting that splash potions damage zombie pigmen and can cause them to explode, however, the damage from a pigman explosion will oftentimes damage a player before the splash potion heals them. Be careful using splash potions near them! |

+ | Revenants are a rare spawn found in the North; equipped with both pristine chain armor and a stone sword, they can deal surprising damage to an unprepared player at close range. Revenants have the same AI as a normal MineZ zombie, and move at a similar speed.
+ | |||
+ | The most notable feature of a revenant is their ability to revive when slain. After you kill a revenant, a small cry is heard as several blocks of netherrack and soulsand appear on the ground where they died. With the addition of some fiery particles, after a few moments, the revenant reappears in the same location it was killed with all it's health back, and additionally spawns in several minions in the immediate area to assist it. The revenant will typically immediately re-aggro onto the player and begin to run at them when they revive. The revenant only respawns in this way one time.
+ | |||
+ | Picture of a Minion, no different than a vanilla wither skeleton.
+ | | ||
+ | |||
+ | When fighting a revenant, they are best dealt with at long range with a bow. It only takes a couple shots to kill a revenant, and after they respawn, due to them appearing in the same location they died, their melee attacks and the wither skeletons (named Minion) will pose little threat. It is worth noting that you do not have to kill the spawned minion, as they disappear immediately after the revenant is killed. Do your best to avoid the minions, as with Vanilla minecraft wither skeletons, they wield a stone sword and inflict wither on hit, which can quickly drain you of health if you are unprepared. However, with a bow, you should oftentimes be able to avoid this threat.
+ | |||
+ | When killed, a revenant can drop pieces of their armor or a unique item called a Revenant's Remedy, which when right clicked, heals 2 hearts and cures all status effects.

+ | ==Forsaken== <!--T:43-->
+ | |||
+ | <!--T:44--> | ||
+ | | ||
+ | Forsaken are a rare spawn found in the most northern sections of the map. These behemoths are decked out in full iron gear, have tons of health, as well as two stages of battle. Forsaken should not be taken on lightly, as they deal large amounts of damage, even to full iron players. It is advised you are well equipped with potions before attempting to battle a forsaken.
+ | |||
+ | Forsaken are powerful zombies, dealing around 2 hearts of damage to full iron, and come with special properties. When you first find a Forsaken, they are equipped with enchanted iron armor. While the armor is enchanted, a forsaken is immune to damage from bows, and must be damaged with a melee weapon. After they fall to about half health, a Forsaken causes a small explosion, pulling nearby players towards it and damaging them. It's armor loses the appearance of being enchanted, and becomes immune to sword damage instead of bows, and must be finished off with a bow and arrow. During this second stage, Forsaken also have a chance to spawn a zombie when hit, making it harder to hit them and create more mobs for the player to deal with.
+ | |||
+ | To fight a forsaken, it is advised to bring potions, potentially some splashes as well. Being a northern mob, they move at close to the same speed as a sprinting player, making it hard to stop and drink a potion without taking more damage. For the melee portion of the fight, try and bring a knockback/smite sword, as both enchantments effect the Forsaken, making it quicker to kill and harder to be hit by. If you have a friend, you can additionally take turns hitting, forcing the Forsaken to switch between targets, giving it little chance to actually damage you. When the explosion goes off, immediately run to try and create some distance so you can switch to shooting the Forsaken with a bow. When needed, run to create more distance, turn, shoot, and repeat. This part is much easier with a friend, as you can swap aggro from farther away, giving both of you time to shoot before it gets to you, and then making it run the opposite way towards your ally, while also giving someone the chance to deal with the occasional zombie spawn.
+ | |||
+ | The battle with a Forsaken is worth the struggle, as they have some of the best non-Giant drops from mobs in the game, including the Legendary Forsaken Blade, mimicing it's ability to deflect arrows for a brief time.

+ | Scorchers are a unique mob found only in the north along the stone lands around areas such as Fort Saward, Mining Town, and Hell Tree. These unique creatures wear enchanted colored armor, and wear a magma block on their head, making them stick out amongst the normal mobs in the world.
+ | |||
+ | Scorchers live up to their name, being capable of setting players in a small radius around them on fire when they are hit, similar to the effect of a fire grenade. This fire ticks for about one and a half hearts, their melee attacks do 2 hearts to an unarmored player, and 1 heart to a full iron. Sitting in water will make you immune to the fire attack of the scorcher, making the river or areas such as the pond in front of Fort Saward good places to kill the Scorcher from. The Scorcher is immune to bows, and thus must be killed with a melee weapon, making kiting them towards a source of water a viable option. Their fire ability does not always go off when hit, making it possible to stay out of it's radius, or kill the scorcher quickly enough to avoid taking too much damage. They have slightly more health than a typical zombie, taking 8 hits with an unenchanted iron sword to kill.

+ | Shivers are unique zombies that spawn in the midland snow biome north of ravine (z=-1300), including in the cave system. These zombies wear enchanted blue leather leggings and chestplate and enchanted brown leather boots, with a block of ice on their head.
+ | |||
+ | Shivers are like an icy version of the Shorcher, being tankier than a normal zombie, but also with unique abilities. When a shiver is hit by a melee attack, it will gain the glowing buff, alongside temporary invincibility, and a circle of snow particles will form around it. Anyone inside the particle circle will take 2.5 hearts () of true damage and knock the player back. Upon shooting a Shiver with a bow and arrow, it will launch a volley of ice blocks at the player that will land on the ground by the player. Stepping on one of these blocks will deal 1 heart () of true damage and very brief blindness. This effect is known as Frostbite.

+ | | ||
+ | |||
+ | Rampaging golems look like normal vanilla iron golems but behave much differently. Known for dealing heavy damage and shaking the ground, it is often compared to the Giant. Currently they are only known to reside in Lazerville and the boss room of Krubera Vault.
+ | |||
+ | ===Behavior=== <!--T:59-->
+ | |||
+ | The golem has three different states: idle, walking towards the player slowly and an aggressive state where it runs much faster. You will likely find the golem to be idle when you first encounter it, but quickly it will walk towards you.
+ | |||
+ | Like the giant, the golem has a stomp. This stomp is much weaker than the giant's however. You can prepare for the stomp by listening for the rampaging golem's grunts as it will grunt before stomping. Occasionally the golem will do a giant leap into the air and do heavy damage once it lands. The signature move of the rampaging golem is the ground shaker attack. It will cause blindness and nausea to nearby players. When this happens the golem displays angry villager particles. The final attack the iron golem can do is create a stone ring around itself, which will cause damage 1 heart of damage towards a player per second the player is in there. It is hard to escape the circle but not impossible.

They can pose a big threat with their big numbers combined with their speed and size to unprepared players. It is advised to either throw snowballs at a wolf to distract it or lead it into a zombie. Then, finish off whichever mob survives the encounter. Alternatively, it is best to run away and bow down any wolves that may be chasing you. You can also get into a corner and start spam clicking the wolves, but this could be deadly as wolves have lots of health and take many hits to kill, even with an iron or diamond sword. Revision as of 12:20, 6 November 2021
MineZ, based off of the popular Arma II zombie survival mod "DayZ", uses mobs to emulate the zombie apocalypse theme of DayZ, such as Zombies and Zombie Pigmen. However, in order to further simulate the abilities of the zombies in DayZ and change the difficulty and theme of survival, they are given unique abilities using server plugins to make the game more challenging.
This page contains all the current known mobs of MineZ, each with a small summary on their behavior, drops and how to fight them.
Contents
Zombies
Zombies are fast and dangerous brutes - modified by the developers to be clever, relentless and deadly.
They often travel in packs, and run almost as fast as you can while sprinting, swim faster in water and they can also 'dive' to get to the player. A good way to avoid them is by sneaking. Sneaking reduces your Visibility, which makes the zombies less likely to spot you and eat your precious brains.
Unlike vanilla zombies, they do not burn in sunlight or take fall damage (when ignited they have a chance of setting a player on fire). Zombies are capable of running at a player at sprinting speed, and can deal much more damage than vanilla zombies. They will also run faster and deal more damage the further North you go.
When a player is killed, they will leave a zombie called a Player Zombie.
Zombies have around a 5% chance to give you Infection.
Variants
Zombies have a kind of variant: Baby Zombie. As of the 2020 Origins update, one of their previous variants, Baby Zombie Villagers were removed from the game.
Baby Zombie
Baby Zombies spawn anywhere a zombie can, but are much rarer. They run slightly faster than zombies, deal the same damage but have half the health of a regular zombie. Due to this, they can be killed with iron swords Smite II or Smite III in a single hit. Baby Zombies also spawn in groups of 4 when a Zombie Pigman dies, making large groups of pigmen especially dangerous.
Drops
- 25% chance to drop rotten flesh.
- Zombies from trapped chests can drop the contents of that chest when killed. They can also wear and wield the contents of the chests (i.e. military loot chests).
- After killing 5 thousand zombies in a single life, you are rewarded with a permanent speed potion in your spawn kit.
- After killing 50 thousand career zombies, you are rewarded with a permanent stone sword in your spawn kit.
- After killing 100 thousand career zombies, you are rewarded with a permanent stone axe in your spawn kit.
Zombie Pigmen
Zombie Pigmen were added to the game on November 30, 2012 by MrSnare and Lazertester. Zombie Pigmen are much more dangerous than Zombies so watch out! When encountering hostiles like these, use ranged weapons like bows or grenades if possible. If you have no ranged weapons, try your best to stay away from them.
Unlike Zombies, Zombie Pigmen take fall damage and they run as fast as in Vanilla Minecraft, and can only spawn north of Z -2000(except in certain dungeons!). They also do not wield any sort of weaponry.
Zombie Pigmen only have a half a heart of health.
Baby Zombie Pigman
Baby Zombie Pigmen were added to the game to spawn from a Zombie Pigman, but were later altered to just be a rare spawn up North. They're similar to adult Zombie Pigmen; they have low health, do large amounts of damage and explode when slain, causing a knockback effect with large magnitude and damage. The knockback effect from the explosion can knock a player into the air up to 20 blocks, so it is advised to dispose of them at a safe distance with ranged weapons.
Unlike Zombie Pigmen, they run and swim just as fast as a regular Zombie. Due to this, they can very easily overwhelm a player, killing them quicker if they're not careful. It is advised to shoot a baby pigman from far away whenever you see one.
Drops
- Rotten flesh.
- 15% chance of dropping a Flash Grenade.
Undead Miner
Undead Miners are skeletal miners which are located only at Abandoned Mineshaft and Al Hasa Quarry. They may carry iron shovels or pickaxes.
Giant
The Giant (or Giant Zombie) is a boss mob located in the northern canyons of MineZ and inside certain dungeons. They are known to drop 'end-game' loot such as diamond swords, infinity bows, golden carrots and zombie heads. It is one of the most iconic symbols of MineZ. Giants are not affected by bows, grenades or splash potions. The Smite enchantment deals additional damage to Giants, and hitting the giant while in the air (crits) does additional damage as well. Also bear in mind that Giants are immune to fall damage and fire, like normal zombies.
They share the same texture as zombies, but are twelve blocks tall. They are capable of dealing varying high amounts of damage.
Behavior
They can use a special jump attack in response to being hit sometimes, in which it jumps several blocks into the air, and lands, creating an explosive shockwave that knocks people back 15-30 blocks, does large amounts of damage, and inflicts a Slowness debuff. The closer you are to the giant, the higher the amount of damage it will do. If you get too close the Giant, it will kick you away. This attack deals 6 hearts of damage to an unarmored player. You can go into little corners to prevent the Giant from kicking you, but you are more vulnerable to the stomp.
When hit, it has a chance to spawn 1 zombie which will attack you. Hitting a giant multiple times in rapid succession is a surefire way to spawn many zombies at once. It's best to hit it 2 or 3 times, and then run away to deal with the zombies that spawned. To avoid taking serious damage when fighting a giant, it is best to run as far away from the giant as you can while it stomps. Following the Origins update, giants are now tethered to their spawn points in a 200 hundred block radius, meaning that giants who walk outside this radius will be moved back to their spawn point.
Fighting
If you are fighting with other people, you may want to bring a healing kit, as you or your friends can whack the Giant and come back for a heal. You must still bring health pots just in case. If you are fighting alone, you will need about 1/3 of your inventory full of health pots, preferably splash or lingering potions of healing II.
When you're ready, run up to the Giant, and jump backwards, hitting the Giant as you land. This isn't the only method of attack, but it's a very efficient one, and makes it very hard for the Giant to kick you. Note that zombies will sometimes spawn upon Giant hit, but keep hitting the Giant and when you get kicked/stomped, heal up and deal with the zombies while your friends take care of the Giant for a while (unless you are fighting solo).
When killed, they drop a large amount of rotten flesh, and 1-2 of the other items (there can be duplicates). The diamond sword is always at quarter durability when dropped, the infinity bow is always at full durability, and the diamond axe is always at 350 durability(about 1/4).
Drops
- Giants found inside dungeons will drop Adventure Packs instead of the regular giant drops.
- Before the August 2015 update, Giants dropped half durability-diamond swords, and did not drop axes, golden carrots, or golden apples.
- The Zombie Head Legendary Item was added to the possible drops in early 2018. This legendary was only obtainable in Devil's Respite. Zombie heads have since been made exclusive to giant drops.
- After the Re-Code Update, Giants stopped dropping iron axes and golden apples(which were re-added again later), and diamond swords started dropping with only a quarter of their full durability.
- After the 2020 First Steps Update, Giants once again stopped dropping Golden Apples.
Revenants
Revenants are a rare spawn found in the North; equipped with both pristine chain armor and a stone sword, they can deal surprising damage to an unprepared player at close range. Revenants have the same AI as a normal MineZ zombie, and move at a similar speed.
The most notable feature of a revenant is their ability to revive when slain.
Picture of a Minion, no different than a vanilla wither skeleton.
When fighting a revenant, they are best dealt with at long range with a bow.
When killed, a revenant can drop pieces of their armor or a unique item called a Revenant's Remedy, which when right clicked, heals 2 hearts and cures all status effects.

Forsaken
Forsaken are a rare spawn found in the most northern sections of the map. These behemoths are decked out in full iron gear, have tons of health, as well as two stages of battle. Forsaken should not be taken on lightly, as they deal large amounts of damage, even to full iron players. It is advised you are well equipped with potions before attempting to battle a forsaken.
Forsaken are powerful zombies, dealing around 2 hearts of damage to full iron, and come with special properties.
To fight a forsaken, it is advised to bring potions, potentially some splashes as well.
The battle with a Forsaken is worth the struggle, as they have some of the best non-Giant drops from mobs in the game, including the Legendary Forsaken Blade, mimicing it's ability to deflect arrows for a brief time.

Scorchers
Scorchers are a unique mob found only in the north along the stone lands around areas such as Fort Saward, Mining Town, and Hell Tree. These unique creatures wear enchanted colored armor, and wear a magma block on their head, making them stick out amongst the normal mobs in the world.
Scorchers live up to their name, being capable of setting players in a small radius around them on fire when they are hit, similar to the effect of a fire grenade.

Shivers
Shivers are unique zombies that spawn in the midland snow biome north of ravine (z=-1300), including in the cave system. These zombies wear enchanted blue leather leggings and chestplate and enchanted brown leather boots, with a block of ice on their head.
Shivers are like an icy version of the Shorcher, being tankier than a normal zombie, but also with unique abilities.

Rampaging Golem
Rampaging golems look like normal vanilla iron golems but behave much differently. Known for dealing heavy damage and shaking the ground, it is often compared to the Giant. Currently they are only known to reside in Lazerville and the boss room of Krubera Vault.
Behavior
The golem has three different states: idle, walking towards the player slowly and an aggressive state where it runs much faster. You will likely find the golem to be idle when you first encounter it, but quickly it will walk towards you.
Like the giant, the golem has a stomp.
Fighting
It is recommended to bring healing potions and some friends in order to take down the rampaging golem.
Drops
Wild Animals
Only a handful of animals can be found in the world of MineZ. Four of which are hostile and a single, passive one that only appears in one location.
Wolf
Wolves are pack-based, hostile mobs. They attack anything they can hear or see, like the player and even Zombies and Zombie Pigmen. They can only be found in the Snow Biome, Cave System included.
They have increased speed, similar to that of a Zombie, and spawn in relatively large packs. They can often be seen fighting other mobs that spawn near them. Zombies will not attack them by default, however. Due to this hostile behavior, explosions can be heard often in the middle of the Snow Biome, possibly caused by a wolf killing a zombie pigman.
It is best to avoid wolf packs as much as you can.
Wolves may drop rotten flesh upon death.
Ocelot
Although extremely rare, Ocelots can be found in the jungle biome, the biome where Agni Ignis is located at.
Hostile towards all mobs, similar to wolves, and a slight increase in speed. Ocelots do not pose much of a threat to the player, more often than not they'll be trying to kill zombies or getting killed by them.
Byesford Squid
A single, solitary squid, found in the depths of Byesford Labs, inside a glass container in Sector D-8. Also known as Subject 617, is the only living squid in the entirety of MineZ. Much like their counterparts in Vanilla Minecraft, it will slowly suffocate in its glass compartment due to faulty programming.
Cow
Commonly found in farms above the PvE line. Cows are slow and do little damage compared to most mobs in MineZ. They drop raw beef which can be cooked in fire and leather which can be used for certain recipes.

Trivia
- Wolves were planned for MineZ at some point but were completely scratched for unknown reasons. The same happened again for MineZ 2.
- For the Re-Code Update, they were finally added to the game, alongside Ocelots and the Villager Zombies and babies.
- Skeletons used to naturally spawn with the map every reboot on the canyons and the volcanic region. This was obviously unintentional and they were removed.
- A distinct type of Zombie Pigmen nicknamed "Super Pigmen" by the community spawned on every server reboot east from Lazerville in a group of 4 and a single one northwest of Grayvale, near the canyons. They could be told apart from regular pigmen due to Strength potion particle effects coming off of them. They were also faster and stronger, dealing up to 4 hearts () of damage to full iron players and able to catch up to them, having a higher speed than Baby Zombies. They were removed as well.
- Cows, Pigs, and Sheep used to be anywhere but rarely on the MineZ world. The last sighting of a sheep was right next to Evergreen Manor after the rebuild was released. Cows and Pigs were removed from the game recently even thought they've been around for 5 years and were mostly accepted by the community. Their removal is mostly undetermined but it is believed they were removed to improve performance on the servers.
- Cows have been re-introduced recently to MineZ as a weak hostile mob.
