The town from the southwest

Kaocho is the closest town to the swamp spawn points, making it a frequented destination. It has plenty of food, leather armor, and health potions to get ready for the trip up North. There are usually very few amounts of players coming here, due to the fact most just skip to Somnia.

Travel Advisory/Warning

  • The crafting table is located in the barn at (-3033, 65, 304).
  • There are multiple places where you can parkour onto the trees.
  • There is a mil_common chest on the bell of the church.
  • There are 4 harvestable melons in this town, located outside the barn.
  • The chests located in the central tree contain a tricky vine jump to get out, making the chests risky to loot. However, jumping into the cobweb can slow your fall enough to grab the vines at the right angle and climb upward.

Trivia

  • The old version of this location was a build submission made by Oweoz.
    • It was rebuilt as part of the Monthly Rebuild on May 28th, 2018.
      • The head of the builder, Tannatron, can be found inside the tree in the middle of the town.
  • Kaocho is the name of a town found in the game Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.
  • There are nether portals located under the quartz block grave, with coal blocks and obsidian spreading from below the grave.
  • Kaocho was briefly renamed to 'Koacho' when the Origins update came out, however it was changed back some time after.

Lore

  • This location contains a Lore Block beside a fountain at (-2954, 63, 274), and a Lore Book located inside the southern house at (-3001, 70, 312). The island mentioned in the latter is pointing to the mushroom island where Pileus and PurpleSunshine Humble Abode are settled on.

Lore Block

Isolated, the exotic town of Kaocho sat hidden...or forgotten in the western swamps. Being so remote, Kaocho was one of the last towns to fall to the infection. Most of its people opted to stay here, cutting themselves off from the rest of the world.

Refusing to accept any intrepid traveler for fear of infection, the town of Kaocho was saved, if only for a fleeting moment. They would unwittingly cause the downfall of other major towns sunk deep in the swamp's marshy north, due to this refusal.

Mayor's Log - Mayor Limbus

It was quite an interesting day in Kaocho.

A small rowboat came from the east. The man in the boat seemed quite peculiar, raving about the longlasting benefits of mushroom farming.
He said he came from an island where fungus enveloped the entire landscape. We'll plant a few of these mushrooms in the ground in the hopes that he'll leave us alone.....
