A picture taken in the parkour room, part of the Dungeon

Devil's Respite is a soloable Tier 3 dungeon located behind the town of Thannus. There's a lot of fire symbols inside the dungeon. It is a punishing dungeon to beat and may take a few tries, but it gets to be very easy after multiple attempts. During times when the server performance is struggling, it is not advised to come here, as this dungeon can lead to easily dying when lagging.

Text Walkthrough

Entrance (2/10)

  • Parkour across the skeleton to the entrance. It is advised to jump onto the bones from the south side - the lava will kill players

Trial of Greed (1/10)

  • There will be three ways to go. Pick the way with coal blocks at lava level.
    • The path is randomized every time the instance is loaded. Choosing the gold or the diamond path will lead to certain death.
      • Death can be avoided with Feather Falling boots and a fire resistance potion. Once the fire resistance is active, quickly type /logout to leave the dungeon.
  • Walk down the stairs to get to the next room.

Lava Bridge (5/10)

  • While entering this room, there will be a button on the entrance wall, with dispensers on each side and lava on the two sides of a path.
  • Activate the button on the wall. Zombie pigmen will spawn on both sides of the path from the dispensers.
  • Crouch-walk across the path to avoid alerting the pigmen.
  • After some time, a dinging noise will be hear and the door to the next room will open.

Pigman Plate Room (5/10)

  • In this next room there are buttons in the center and 6 surrounding holes with pressure plates in them.
    • Pressing one of the buttons will spawn two pigmen in the center of the room. The objective is to activate all six plates, either with several people or by luring mobs onto the plates.
    • Lure the pigmen directly into the holes, or pop them and try to kite the faster, but more agile baby zombies. It is recommended to avoid doing this with baby pigmen. Use either a snowball or a splash potion on yourself to deal with them.
    • There is no way for mobs and players alike to escape the holes if they touch the pressure plate. Log out if accidentally trapped in one.
    • The legendary this dungeon drops makes the room much easier. As the zombies from the Zombie Bow can fill the plates with a few stacks of arrows. The pigmen can be completely avoided.
  • Once all the plates have been triggered, proceed to the next room.

Parkour Room (6/10)

  • Parkour across the obsidian blocks to reach the other side.
    • There are two three-block one-up jumps. One is located halfway through, and one is at the very end.
    • Sugar or Eillom Ale can make this segment easier.
  • There are zombie spawners on the bottom, and some pigmen spawners at the other end of the room. In case of falling, use the piston at the beginning to get back up.
    • It is recommended to bring snowballs in order to avoid the spawning mobs.
  • There are zombie spawners at the end of the parkour as well. Dispatch any zombies there before making the last jump.
  • Press one of the buttons in the room after the parkour to proceed.

Disappearing Platforms Room (7/10)

  • In this room, there are 9 platforms that will disappear at different intervals. The objective is to survive until it's over.
  • When a platform turns to netherrack it will disappear. Failing to jump platforms means certain death.
  • If there are no safe platforms nearby, jump to an empty area. It is likely a platform will reappear in that area.
  • There are two notable segments, both marked by all platforms reappearing. The first time this happens, the 3 platforms in the center column (relative to the door) will disappear. The second time, all platforms except the center one will disappear. This is also marks the end of this boss room.
  • The door will eventually open and lead to the loot room.

Loot Room (0/10)

  • Collect all the dungeon loot and then leave.

Devil's Reprise (1/10)

  • The player will be teleported into a room with flames on the ground that will hurt the player.
  • Simply click the button on one of the walls to get out.
  • Congratulations!

Travel Advisory/Warnings

  • With experience, this dungeon can be done with little to no items.
  • Bring plenty of health pots because there is opportunity to take lots of damage if you mess up.
  • Beware when exiting this dungeon - Health will be low thanks to the fire room, and the teleport's position is quite vulnerable to projectile weapons from players.
    • Despite this, it is not advised to log out in the loot room - this will place the player in front of the greed trial, where the dangerous entry parkour must be completed in reverse.

Trivia

  • There was once a demon that constantly taunted the player throughout the dungeon, saying phrases in red text such as "I DEMAND YOU PERISH!".
    • This was a self-reference to its builder, demon_peanut.
  • During the Secret Update, it was possible to grapple onto the wall in the boss room, and repeatedly press the boss button to trigger the boss redstone excessively. The result was quite humorous - all nine platforms would flash in and out of existence at impossible speeds.
    • Not only this, but a new legendary would spawn in the loot room every time the circuit completed. This problem was exacerbated by the legendary pool system, where you randomly obtained one of nine legendaries from most loot rooms. This meant Devil's Respite served as an infinite source of Heal Bows, Void Bows, Zombie Bows, Binding Helmets, Lone Swords, Heal Swords, Binding Bows, and two others that kitty can't remember.
  • After the secret update, this exploit was patched, and the loot room contained a zombie bow and a zombie head. Zombie Heads are items of great value in the modern MineZ economy - a 1% drop from giant zombies - and in the past, one could obtain an inventory of them just by spending a few hours here.
