In Annihilation, there's a way to collect rare items and gain some Shotbow XP for your team - Killing bosses! There are three bosses in the game, chosen at random after Phase 4 has started - Celariel, Firwen, and the Wither.

Once Phase 4 has started, the boss portal will be opened at two (rarely more) predetermined locations on the map. These locations can be at mid, between two bases, virtually anywhere.

Once a boss has been killed, it drops a Boss Buff (File:Nether_star.png) for the entire team that killed it, and a varied amount of Shotbow XP per multiplier.

Wither

An Annihilation Wither is different from its vanilla counterpart:

  • It will not move from the center of the arena.
  • The skulls it shoots do not inflict the Wither effect, but will still inflict damage.
  • It will create a ring of white particles around one player and after a few seconds everyone in the circle will take a moderate amount of damage.

In addition to all this, you also have to deal with all the enemies who also want to kill the Wither.

  • The skulls the Wither shoots deal 4 hearts (File:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.png) of damage each.
  • The ring will deal 3 hearts (File:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.png) of damage.

Damage is for players with no armor.

Tips & Strategies

  • Use a teleporter to quickly get your team to the boss. This also allows dead teammates to quickly get back into the fight!
  • Try to fight the boss with strong gear to overwhelm the Wither if you have no teleporter. This is also great to beat enemies trying to take the Boss Buff too! You may even be able to steal the Boss Buff if the enemy is distracted enough.
  • Splashing strength potions before the fight can swing battles in your direction!
  • Smite is better than Sharpness against the Wither, so going in with a Smite Sword may be an ideal option.
  • If you hit the Wither then hide behind a pillar, the Wither stops shooting from it's two side heads. This can make the fight a whole lot easier to deal with if alone. You can also use this to relieve pressure on your teammates.
  • You can use classes such as Assassin, Spy or even Swapper to attempt to steal the Boss Buff!

Celariel

Celariel is the Golem of Ice, they will use ice based attacks and have snow golem minions that shoot snowalls that slow you down when they hit you.

  • Celariel will hit an unarmored player for 2 hearts (File:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.png) to 3.5 hearts (File:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Half_heart.png) and will launch the player ~5 blocks into the air.
  • Celariel's first ability, slam, will knock a player back ~4 blocks and launch them ~4 blocks into the air and will slow the player down for 2 seconds.
  • Celariel's second ability, meteor, will, on direct hit, deal 3.5 hearts (File:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Half_heart.png) of damage.
  • Celariel will also spawn Snowmen, which throw snowballs that deal 0.5 hearts (File:Half_heart.png) of damage and slow the player down for 0.5 seconds, making them an easier target.

Firwen

Firwen is the Golem of Fire, they will use fire based attacks and have magma cube minions that will light you on fire if touched.

  • Firwen will hit an unarmored player for 2 hearts (File:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.png) to 3.5 hearts (File:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Half_heart.png) and will launch the player ~5 blocks into the air.
  • Firwen's first ability, slam, will knock a player back ~4 blocks and launch them ~4 blocks into the air and will set the player on fire for 1 second, dealing 1 additional heart (File:Full_heart.png) of damage.
  • Firwen's second ability, meteor, will, on direct hit, deal 3.5 hearts (File:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Full_heart.pngFile:Half_heart.png) of damage.
  • Firwen will also spawn small Magma Cubes, which each deal 1 heart (File:Full_heart.png) and set the player on fire for 0.5 seconds, dealing 0.5 additional hearts (File:Half_heart.png) of damage.

Tips & Strategies

  • Both Golems are extremely similar, but Firwen is somewhat more dangerous due to fire damage. Make sure to bring fire resistance potions, use Pyro or, if this is the second boss fight you're doing, use the Helmet of Extinguishment.
You may even be able to steal the Boss Buff if the enemy is distracted enough, but know that the boss can and will move around the arena.
  • Splashing strength potions before the fight can swing battles in your direction!
  • Use Acrobat to easily escape the Golem when you get to low health, or use the Golem's Slam attack to your advantage to get yourself up on top of one of the pillars
  • Be very geared against the Golems. They are much stronger than the Wither. Fighting in unenchanted diamond can still cause death. Try to never fight alone!
  • Unlike the Wither, the Golems will not regenerate their health, even with no one in the arena. If you have no gear, you can still fight the Golems in full leather with a teleport to get you quickly back into the fight.

Rewards

Whichever team picks up the Boss Buff after the boss is killed will get a reward, meaning you are able to steal the boss buff if another team doesn't pick it up. Every member of that team will receive one Boss Buff which will open a shop and let you take one legendary item listed below. All items are soulbound but not the Boss Buff itself.

Witch Miniboss

The Witch is a sort of 'miniboss' that spawns at Phase 3. Every team has a designated area near their base for the witch to spawn. They act like vanilla witches, drinking and throwing potions. When killed they will drop either 1 Glowstone or 1 Gunpowder. They are the only source of gunpowder and glowstone (provided the map has no blocks), not including the Alchemist class.

They will respawn 30 seconds after the previous witch has died, in a flash of lightning.
